Boaters and anglers find direct water access at Cottonwood, a small three-site campground positioned along Highway 180 in Apache National Forest. The campground sits right off the highway with site 1 backing toward the road, while sites 2 and 3 occupy quieter spots farther back. A dry wash runs alongside the camping area that appears to carry water during certain seasons.
The Forest Service maintains clean pit toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables at each site, though no potable water is available on-site. Tree canopy provides shade across most sites while still allowing decent solar exposure. Road traffic from Highway 180 creates some noise during daytime hours but typically quiets after 10 PM. The campground works well for smaller RVs and tent campers, with dirt pads that may challenge larger rigs during wet conditions.
