We arrived around 10pm and saw one other camper on the way in. It was pitch black outside so we were very pleased to wake up and see the giant mountain behind us the next morning," writes Amanda R.

At Baylor Pass West Trailhead, one visitor observed: "We pulled in late and easily found a spot, but cars here really are parked side by side. It's a good spot for a nights rest."
Road conditions vary: Access roads range from paved to rough dirt tracks. "The road is pretty rocky, take it slow and you'll be good though. 4wd not needed, I managed fine in a 2wd Escape, wouldn't attempt going too far in with low clearance as some rocks are pretty big," advises a camper.

Site selection for tent camping: Some areas have hard ground making tent stakes challenging. "Tent camped although the ground is quite hard for spikes and spot can be very windy in the afternoon but views were worth it," explains Sam W.

Site access considerations: Larger vehicles require careful planning. "I would definitely try to get spots here before Sierra Vista or Baylor Pass trailhead as you don't have to deal with the traffic trying to get to the parking area to hike," advises Mike M. at BLM Dispersed camping along B059. "Able to get our 39' toy hauler into this location without any issues."
Leveling challenges: Be prepared for uneven terrain. "Sites are not level so be prepared," notes Dan M. "Several turnouts for camp sites with many having rock fire rings."
Overnight positioning: Some areas offer quieter experiences away from day-use traffic. "If you are planning to camp out here for the great views and proximity to the trails, I'd recommend starting at the Baylor Canyon Spur Dispersed area and follow the road until you find a spot," suggests Noah E.
