Lincoln National Forest's Sacramento Mountains hold this dispersed site along Alamo Peak Road, managed by the US Forest Service at a variable nightly fee. Large rigs can access the area. One reviewer with a 30-foot motorhome found a workable spot, which is worth noting since dispersed sites in mountain terrain often exclude bigger vehicles. Rim Trail and Alamo Peak Trail are both within walking distance. Cell service drops out here, with only a few bars available further down the road toward Alamo Peak. Elk and hummingbirds have been spotted in the surrounding aspen grove. Nearby, Lincoln NF Dispersed off FR 634 near Alamo Peak provides another option if this stretch is occupied. Visit in late spring or early fall to catch moderate temperatures at elevation and bring water, as no hookups or potable sources are listed on site.
