    NomadLand RV Stay

A great place to stay with wonderful staff

NomadLand was the perfect place to stay while we visited family in Rio Rancho for 3 weeks. We were undercover with full hook-ups, this was very helpful in the hot NM sun. All the sites are flat and paved. They offer free internet, free filtered water, free bags of ice, free coffee, free use of washer and dryer and a free RV wash bay that has an"upper level" so you can reach your rv roof. The park is impeccably clean with new and clean restrooms and shower. The park is gated with cameras so we felt very safe in the middle of the city in a camper. Jessica and Dan were super friendly and helpful. We actually left to go home to NC and had to turn around and go back to NM after my sister-in-law became very sick over the July 4th holiday. I called NomadLand on the outside change they might be able to find a spot for us. I explained everything to Jessica and she said they would find a spot for us somewhere--that spot was the same one we had our first visit. We ended up staying for a month on top of our original 3 weeks. There is a Walgreens, Walmart Neighborhood Market, a brewery and restaurants all within 1/4 of a mile from Nomadland. Neighbors' restaurant is a great place to eat with a great beer list. This is the perfect place to stay if your looking for a base to do some sight seeing and don't need all the things a RV resort has. We would definitely stay here again. There are some campgrounds out there that need see how to run a campground well, they should spend sometime at NomadLand.

    WINDY

Campgrounds easy to access.  I did not have a site reservation, buit there were lots of vacent pads available.   Nice view of the lake.   Only drawback was the all night  incessant  winds.  They were strong, gusty and loud.  So strong they collapsed my tent on top of me. Notmuch sleep that night.  It might have been where I was (pad 44),  They were still strong in the morning, but I noticed they were less/non existant at the campsites near the main entrance.  Just bewaye and be prepared.

    High Desert RV Park

    Nice lounge

We arrived after hours. Had a bit of trouble finding our campsite because the number was missing from ours. I do like the coded entry to the bathrooms and common use areas. Nice laundry room, game room and kitchen that can be used by guests. There was a good bit of road noise but that was to be expected being so close to the interstate. There did appear to be a lot of long term residents staying here. It was fine for a one night stay passing through.

Good place on the old Route 66

We used it as a home base to explore greater ABQ, so it was all we needed.  Staff very friendly, and a nice little shop.  Sites are level hardscrabble, typical of NM lowlands.  They were having trouble with the WiFi for our particular loop, but have enough options to overcome such problems.

Best dispersed camping you'll find! Some cell service, read review

I enjoyed my week at Joe Skeen in April 2024. If you camp near the top of the loop, overlooking the road below you'll get some cell service. I was in camp site 8 and have Tmobile I had 5G 2 bars, but it came in and out. I was still able to stream and use my phone hot spot. Nice cement pads with picnic tables, pavillion, fire pit and BBQ stands. Vault toilets with trash bins, but NO WATER! Be careful if you're towing anything, as my trailer bottomed out and bent the jack stand on my brand new car hauler trailer at the gulley in the road on the way into the campground. They should fill that in!! Check out my Utube journey's at: Candy's Catmobile RV Life on Utube. (:

    Nice find

Great campground. Not far off I-40. Lots of sites. Most have a level, gravel tent pad, table and fire ring. Vault toilets in abundance. One bathroom with sinks and flush toilets. Separate shower house was closed when we were here. Some electric sites. Some large level pull thrus. Most sites have at least a glimpse of the lake. There were horses roaming through the campground. Mostly empty this April midweek. Good trails for hiking. I only saw one water pump in the park. There is an EV charging station.

    My favourite KOA yet!

Had a lovely 1 night stay. The toilets & showers are unisex however they’re in individual little “restrooms” so there are not any gaps in the door etc, it’s your own little bathroom. Staff were lovely, smaller campground compared to other KOAs but perfect for our little RV. They also did a free breakfast!

Abuquerque International Balloon Fiesta South Lot

Once a year opportunity and grand adventure!!

Reservations for camping at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta must be made in January.  You must check their website for the exact date.  Sites sell out within an hour!  Reservations are made online only.  This event takes place for 9 days beginning the first full weekend in October and running through the next Sunday.  It's a bucket list must see!

A bit of a challenge to get a camp site but SO worth it!  We dry camped on the South Lot in a "Box space".  This allowed us to back up to the big open field where we saw balloons landing if the winds were right and even some launching when the competition required they fly back to the Fiesta field.

If you love hot air balloons and have never been to this amazing Albuquerque event, camping on site is the way to go!

    Great free camping spot!

This is a great campground! We came in with a 34' toy hauler and there was plenty of spots that would accommodate our size. Their website says there are spots to accommodate up to 50'. There are 10 spots and it is first come, first serve, so make sure you get here early. At the end of December, there were plenty of open spots. There is a little dip when you turn off the main road which we made it through without any issues. Campground was clean, had outhouses, and covered seating areas. Great find!

    This campground was

This campground was gorgeous and well-maintained. The only disadvantage is that if there were a large number of people, it would not be very private. If you have the time, I have discovered a very interesting game called geometry dash lite that you are welcome to join and play with me.

    Nice State Park

The campsites are nice but not very level. If you're coming after November you need to be here before 5:00 or the gates are locked. The water was very infected with blue green algae but also very pretty. The hikes are nice because the water is low you can walk all the way around the lake almost. Not very many electric sites but inexpensive if you get one.

    Great place to stay!

Friendly staff. Bathrooms were private and clean. Laundry facility on site is easy to use and clean. There is a small gift shop with a variety of items. Close to Hwy 40. There is a walking path next to the campground that is in a lava field and there are signs along the path with fun facts of the history of the lava field. Dinner available to order from resident kitchen and food is delivered to your campsite. Free pancake breakfast every morning. Dog specific areas are available for your furry companion.
Sites are level gravel pads easy to get into. Mix of back in and pull through sites. 3 cabins are available as well. Playground for the kiddos. We spent one night here and really enjoyed our stay.

    Beautiful campground and dog friendly

We stopped just for the night but this campground gave us so much to do in one night. The pool is resort style with hot tub. They even have a dog washing facilty with tubs. The spaces are set apart for lots of privacy between spots and the grounds are impeccable. Excellent place to stay.

    Nice camp

Various campsite types at this lakeside park. Most are non electric but I got an electric site as it was hot. A few trails and a nice family atmosphere. Unfortunately lake was choked with algae (seasonal) so I didn’t swim. Also some trash around. Good prices and sites though.

    Great camping area

This is a great area to camp in.... but not in the summer, there is no shade for tent people. This would be a perfect spot for spring and fall. We stayed in the northwest camping site that was about 25 feet from the cliff overlooking 117. Perfect spot. The ground is hard and required a Mason bit and cordless drill to set tent stakes.

This is not a RV PARK

This is RV storage. Pros: Free ice, water, clean bathrooms, super quiet, covered parking and power. Cons: no shower, loud fans in 2 locations and nothing else to do. Kinda freaky to be all alone.

    Great park Limited level sites

If I offered s as my advise, check the fires before committing. Limited electric sites. I think more than 60% of sites were not level. We’re self-leveling but took site B - dry camping, level and fitted between 2 ADA sites. We loved being so remote. Verizon/Visible/ Starlink all worked great

Great staff. Patrolled by rangers frequently, so felt safe

    Pretty scenic and Wild Horses

Lake was muddy brown, not blue. First come, first served and we arrived before noon, but no electric sites were available. Views of lake and surrounding juniper covered mesas was good. Early in morning horses grazed right through our campsite.
