Mountain Road RV Park

Gravel sites and pull-through convenience define Mountain Road RV Park, positioned directly off Interstate 40 next to Flying J and Love's truck stops. The proximity to major fuel stations makes this a practical overnight stop for cross-country travelers, though truckers parking nearby generate some ambient noise.

Alisa P. notes that "sites are level and clean" with some offering shade trees, while the park accommodates RVs up to 60 feet without requiring unhooking. All sites provide full hookups including 50-amp electric service, though one reviewer mentioned voltage running slightly low. The recently renovated bathrooms and laundry facilities receive consistent praise from visitors, with heated restrooms providing comfort during cold weather. A large fenced dog area occupies part of the property, though muddy conditions can develop during wet periods.

Staff members earn frequent compliments for their helpfulness and accommodating approach. The office provides free coffee and tea for guests, and rates vary based on hookup usage—some campers report paying $15 for dry camping while others pay around $30 for full services. WiFi coverage reaches throughout the small park, and T-Mobile cell service works well according to recent visitors.

Several long-term residents occupy sites year-round, but reviewers generally describe the atmosphere as quiet despite the highway location. The park's position makes it easy to explore historic Route 66 attractions in downtown Tucumcari, with local restaurants like La Cita receiving recommendations from guests. Weather can be a factor, as summer temperatures reach uncomfortable levels and winter storms occasionally extend planned one-night stays.

Mountain Road RV Park works well for travelers needing a convenient Interstate stop with reliable hookups and clean facilities, particularly those hauling larger rigs who prefer pull-through sites.

Many campers appreciated this convenient I-40 stopover for its pull-through sites, friendly staff, and clean facilities. Most found it quiet despite highway proximity and reasonably priced for overnight stays.

Visit on Historic route 66

The RV park is right off I40 and close to the Flying J and Loves. Lots of truckers parked in those lots for the night but the noise didn’t bother us at night. The staff here was phenomenal and super helpful! We pairs $15 for a site and didn’t use water or electricity. Our friend paid $25 for their camper and had full use. Bathrooms have recently been renovated and are super clean. Has a newly renovated laundry as well. Huge dog park for your furry friend. I did see burrs toward the back but the front was perfect! Sites are level and clean. Some sites have shade trees. The park has a few long term guest but it was quiet. If you want to see true Americana drive into town where you can drive historic Route 66. Stop off for a meal or shop one of the many stores along the route! Great stay over on the way across the country!

convenient, full hookups, super friendly staff

Rerouted here on my way to the Grand Canyon due to winter storms. Pull thru spots were long enough to leave the truck attached to the camper (17') for the one night that turned into two because of weather.

Wifi was adequate, T-Mobile cell service was good. Dog area was desert-y, pretty muddy in the snowy slushy weather. No official offleash areas.

The whole small park is clean and well maintained, and the heat in the restrooms was great in the 30 degree weather outside. As others mentioned there appeared to be a few rv's here for an extended time. It's not fancy, but the price is good for the full hookups, and the people who run this place take good care of it.

Nice stop right off the freeway

This place was close to the 40 and gas, food. It is a little weather worn but in the land of wind and sand it's understandable. The hosts where awesome and the hook ups were just fine. All sites are pull through.

Great for a two night stay in Tucumcari

Good overnight stop! It was a quiet rv park with clean bathrooms and hot showers. The staff was super friendly at check in and if you like the little touches they offer free coffee and tea! I always think that's nice.

Flat spot, cell reception, right by a gas station and a neat place to explore route 66. Highly recommend La Cita, for New Mexico Mexican food. Very good, friendly staff and also the coffee house is ran by the nicest husband and wife couple with incredible baked goods!!

Easy check out and quiet

We stopped just for the night and because we were coming in after hours the nice woman on the phone just said take any available spot and pay in the morning. It was close to the highway but because there were large buildings between the campground and highway it was quiet. Pull through sites made it oh so easy. Excellent place to stay!!

Functional spot for a night

This campground is close to the highway and we paid 38 including tax. It is a little run down but everything works. They are all pull through sites and we were able to stay connected to the trailer-46’ long

Great one night stop!

This is a great one night stop. Easy off and onto I-40. Friendly staff and reasonably priced. It’s rather desolate around the RV park but it’s great for a short stay. We will be back!

Very accommodating staff and that is a plus in my book. Showers and laundry are clean and spacious. Highly recommend. Electric voltage is a little low but adequate for our 30 amp rig.

Nice spot for short stays!

We stayed for one night and this place fit perfectly. Had the basic amenities, full hookups and since many spaces were open, we had plenty of room between guests. Very quiet and easy to pull into our site. Near a restaurant for dinner and gas fill-up before leaving the area. Great water pressure!

Good pit stop.$30 dump/shower/fuel up

On the 40, easy access from Interstate, fuel up, refill water tanks, dump tanks, empty trash, plug in long enough to shower and then easy to keep going. $30 glad it was available. It was very hot outside though, wouldn’t want to sleep here in June.

Easy Overnight Stay

No frills gravel and dirt campground with all pull-through, full hook-up sites. You don’t have to unhook unless you want to. It’s just off I-40 and next to a Flying J. It’s perfect for an overnight stop but wouldn’t stay more than two. If you want to unhook you can drive into Tucumcari and see some fun Route 66 landmarks.
