Showed up at dusk and still spots available. Roads a little rough but doable in any vehicle. Great option for White sands.

Nice mountain views... Easy access... No facilities... No garbage where I parked... About 10 other RVs in the area... One playing loud music... the risk you take on these dispersed camping sites... Price is right... free... State Park 1 mile up road was full... Nice mountain views and sunset. Close to Alamogordo.

A good bit of people here but everyone is spread apart. It’s very quiet for the amount of people here. They have plenty of places to park though

Quick and easy to get to outside of town in a FWD hatchback, chilly night in a tent but no wind fortunately. Quiet by 9pm, surprised to see how many were actually out there come dawn.

Beautiful solitude and views at this campground. We stayed for 2 nights to visit white sands. No problem navigating in our 43ft motorhome --plenty of dispersed sites in a gravel loop off the paved entrance road to Oliver Lee Memorial Park. Sites were about 50 yards or so apart (see video). Our site was level and we had plenty of room to park our towed vehicle. Very peaceful and quiet! We exited the same we can in --if you follow the loop all the way back to pavement it goes down and up a pretty large hill and the road is washed out in places.

Giving 5 stars bc no complaints for free camping and easy drive in and out. Bummed bc there are no hiking or UTV trails direct out of the campground, but that's personal preference and not the fault of this dispersed area.

Was a little crowded in December when we arrived late one night but managed to find a spot far away enough from other people. Couple of smaller RVs and some tent campers. Quiet enough but had some generator noise in the morning from other campers. Watch out for the thorns they'll go right through your shoes.

Good sites. Not many for large rigs but easy to find a spot for our 23ft travel trailer even when we arrived just before sunset on a Friday. Lots of abandoned and run down houses on Dog Canyon road leading to the area made it feel a bit sketchy. But in reality a lovely, quiet spot with great views of the nearby mountains. Only 20 minutes to Whir Sands NP.

Some trashy spots, but overall, a really nice free camping area. Up to 14 days, nice views at sunrise and sunset if you get the right spot.

BLM land with spots to camp. No amenities. Mostly clean but some trash and glass too. The state park has some nice trails.

I entered in the first entrance. This was exactly where the directions from The Dyrt took me. Not a lot of spots but no trouble getting a spot. We have a 30ft trailer and there’s lots of space to turn around and set up with the view you want.

This site was very convenient and close to town and not far from white sands national park. There were plenty of spots to choose from and fire pits already available! We loved waking up to the Mountain View’s

Great views and very accessible. Although, at 1am as I was sleeping in my car, a UTV pulled up behind my vehicle and started flashing their lights. I quickly drove but they followed me down the dirt road. Pulled infront of slammed on their breaks but luckily was able to get around them and make it to the highway.

Great views with easy access for our overnight stop before heading into White Sands NP the next morning. A few other campers out on this cold January evening but it was quiet.

Many great spots available and easily accessible by low clearance vehicles (we have a camper class B van). Very close (less than a mile?) to the state park, and about 30 minutes from white sands NM. Very quiet. Cell signal. Dog friendly.

Stayed for 3 days and only saw a few cars pass by that whole time. Felt very private and had plenty of space. Lots of beautiful birds and some bats flying around at dusk! Tmobile service was pretty good, mostly had 5G but did lose 5g service a couple of times. Starting to get hot in April!

Easy to access, plenty of spots along the main road and other spurs going off from it. Drove the whole way until it dead ends into State Park land (fenced) then turned around and went down a spur on the left to a great spot. Verizon service, starry skies.

This was my husband and I’s first experience boondocking and we were looking for a location close enough to the White Sands National park that wouldn’t be to far of a drive and this location was perfect. Clean, Quite and Beautiful. We enjoyed seeing all the rock trails that have been created from previous visitors.

Numerous sites with fire rings and clean. The turn off from the paved road is difficult to spot and the unpaved road is rough. High ground clearance recommended.

About 20 minutes south of Alamogordo. Main dirt road is fine, even for larger rigs. Side road that runs north/south may give you issues.

Plenty of obvious campsites, many of which are level. Mine had a stone border created by previous guests which was pretty cool.

Great views in every direction, but many sites will be exposed to wind. Was pretty gusty when I was there.

Be advised, Oliver Lee Memorial State Park is right next door, but dump station is clearly marked as only for guests. Water and dump station were physically locked at 4pm which is stupid.

Beautiful, easy to drive through and quiet. Prickly pears and amazing views galore. I stayed in the first “loop” on the map and had a couple neighbors but it was as quiet as can be.

Ok, so it's free on BLM land and there's quite a few places to put your camper. I'm sure you could pitch a tent as well. Most spots are reasonably level and the road in should be fine for most travel trailers, I wouldn't pull in a huge trailer but under 40' should be able to fund something that works.

There's a self appointed camp host most of the year, you'll know him when you meet him. He'll be the one in a thong. Yes. A thong. No, it's not a big deal. Talk to him, and you'll understand why, and you'll be fine with it. He's a great guy, and he made our stay better.

All in all, great little BLM spot. Watch out for all the bushes. They're basically midevil torture devices masquerading as bushes.

Gravel roads stretch out through the area at the base of a mountain range.

Tried two other spots before this and glad they didn’t work out. This one is perfect. Did a workout under the moonlight, parked flat, easy to find a spot, feel very safe, ready to stay for a while!

• This nice little pull in for a quick stop has great views of the Alamogordo mountains. Pros: views close to town and available Cons; not lots of shade and thorn bushes everywhere.

This campsite was trashed. There was broken glass and trash everywhere. There were a lot of gravel spaces to stay at. It was very busy here and did not feel private. There is no bathroom on site. 1-2 bars of cell service. There was a great Mountain View!
