Amazing😍🤩

Let me just start by saying I come here every year and I absolutely love the friendliness of the staff, the other campers and or people who tent. I bring my kids here every year the first camping trip kids always ask can we go to Lazy River Campground!! I enjoy every second of being here!

An old school campground

First off, the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. A quaint office upon entry with nice staff and game room attached. Our site was right along the river. Be aware that the sites along the river, while waterfront and nice, do suffer from road noise coming from NH28. Obviously not the campgrounds fault by any means. The river was rather shallow but there is a swimming area downstream that would be deep enough for a swim. I didn’t catch any fish but did see a number of small minnows. The campground is nice and the sites are spaced out and private. We did happen to see a flock of geese flying down the river. I would come back but perhaps pick a site in the wooded areas before I picked a river site again.

Our first outting!

We chose Lazy River as our first spot to test out our new to us camper. My husband complained about the noise from 28, it didn't bother me much. Having the river right there for the kids to fish and dogs to swim was great. We were all alone at the end of the field, and that was ok with us!!! Electric didn't come right on so my husband called the office and he came right down and fixed it. He apologized as it was there first weekend for the season. To us, it wasn't a big deal, kinks get worked out. Saturday rolled around and some noisier guests came in for the night, they were several sites away and sounded like they were having a great time, didn't bother us. The river must not have been too cold because a bunch of them swam earlier that day. I used our bathroom and shower in our camper, but my husband did say that the bathhouse near us was clean ever time he used it. Lazy River was recommended to us by a family member, for a low key campground to get out feet wet camping! We would come back again.

Mixed bag...nice pool and river, but bathrooms could be better

I was looking for a campground near the Suncook Valley Rotary ballooon festival in August and the fact that the Lazy River was just a short drive away and offered a river for tubing and swimming, too, made this my choice. I really wanted to love this place (I've been on a quest for a campground with tubing this summer), but the downsides keep me from giving it 4 stars.

The good:

  1. location in the middle of the state, so it is a relatively quick getaway from the city or southern NH
  2. a newly built store and game room with a friendly welcome from staff
  3. the river offers a beach and tubing without having to drive anywhere; the water was on the low side late in the season, but there were still people tubing
  4. beautiful pool, very popular with families; there's a kiddie pool, too
  5. All the sites include electric
  6. nice playground with an open field
  7. riverfront sites
  8. Fields and equipment for volleyball, horseshoes, etc.
  9. Laundry

The opportunities:

Folks will tell you that a bathroom makes or breaks a campground and, here, the bathrooms hurt. One of the 3 bathhouses was out of order with a sign directing you to the one in the playground field. That one was clean, but there were no latches on any of the doors on the women's side. To get a shower, you have to journey over to the seasonal loop, which may be a bit of a walk depending on your campsite location. Once there, there's no guarantee a shower will work. The first day I found a shower that worked (coin operated), but the next day none of the 3 seemed to be working (one with an error on the meter, others wouldn't turn). Another camper was there and she couldn't get anything to work, either. Ventilation isn't great in that bathroom, so the ceiling is a bit mildewy. It does have a nice long counter with sinks.

Camp roads would benefit from grading, but they're navigable.

If you're on the river, you may hear some traffic noise from 28 on the other side of the Suncook River. It didn't bother me, but I can sleep through anything!

Some of the seasonal sites look cluttered.

Would be nice if you could make reservations online, but had no problem getting through on the phone.

All in all, great place to hang out on the water, whether the river or the pool, but would be even better with bathroom improvements.

It's not the campsite really but lack of technology

I usually use #reserveamerica to book camp sites ahead of time and I mean months in advance. Which is great you can see the campsites but more importantly if they are taken already or not especially if you want to camp next to friends and family. My problem is you need to call into this campsite Everytime you find something you might want to book just to see if the sites are open or not.everytime!!! If one is open and the others are taken you now need to find all the other families and see if they want another spot. It's just a hassle that you cannot book online when you are coming from several dates away  to meet up with friends or family

Great family friendly spot

Spent a few nights here this past week. The name is extremely fitting for this campground. It is all about relaxing here and family time. Whether you're floating down the river (with return transport provided), swimming in the well maintained pool (or chasing your toddler back and forth in the kids pool), enjoying the large wooden playground and field, or sitting back with a drink at your site, there is never a moment of worry or stress. it's easy going here and I like that. The family will definitely be making a few return trips, especially with the reasonable drive from the boston area to the grounds.
