Crawford Notch Campground

Pros: Cleanliness, spacious sites, location,

Cons: will change your site for no reason, I booked site 43 and 44 they ended up giving my site 43 to someone else when they could have accommodated them at another site (mind you 3 more sites were available that day) - I actually paid for my site, I just feel like it’s a total crooked way of charging people and upon arrival your desperate to set up and they just threw this info at me stating that they changed my site. So disrespectful and rude and they don’t refund!

They charge extra for “lock in” site, not worth the money or the headache, they need better management. Showers are near the entrance (very long walk) or you’ll have to drive to the bathroom

Beautiful campground. Large secluded sites. Forested. Beautiful fall colors. Coin operated showers. Access to nearby trails.

Loved this place! Small store with local goods and basic needs, gated entry, wooded camping areas, small cabins, Camper Vans, you name it and it was there. I personally stayed at a tent site that was right next to the perfect view of the river with a beach area and fire ring. Potable water throughout. I'd absolutely return!

i loved the views behind me however it was very busy and sites are packed together, close to highway so you can see cars from the campground and a lot of sites! i did have a bear enter the site twice and a moose which was both terrifying and cool but thats just camping in nh, the amenities were a nice plus but i just couldnt get over the several sites around us with drunk 20's kids and shouting/partying/music/pot until 2-3 am a stones throw from our site, you can clearly see other campers from your sites, there is not a single site that is private, every site is surrounded by other campers close enough to make eye contact and have a conversation with. not for the camper who truly wants seclusion and nature, perfect glamp spot for people who like that you can even pay for a 3 minute shower. ☺️

Stayed at this campsite when it was almost completely full but found it to be quiet and peaceful. Having a general store at the entrance was very helpful. A bit over priced and over managed for the quality of the experience.

Stayed in a yurt which was clean and well maintained on a nice site. Store is so convenient and bathrooms pretty clean. Cabins, RVs and yurts are all clustered near the highway which was loud day and night. Tent sites closer to the river are more desirable—quiet and relatively private.

This is our yearly off the grid no distractions go to spot. Nothing but the great outdoors. I came her when I was a kid and now I am able to bring my children. The scenic location is breathtaking and the variety of hiking trails around are great. There is no rec hall, arcade or pool so the kids are not distracted and enjoy the outdoors to its fullest potential. We enjoy tenting and also the pet friendly yurt.

I have been coming here since I was a kid and now I bring my kids. We come 2 times a year and it is our go to spot. The scenic location is amazing and the variety of hiking trails around are great. We enjoy staying in the pet friendly yurt and also enjoying the tent sites as well. I love that there is no distractions like a rec hall or arcade just some great outdoors and also that it's off grid when it comes to cellphone use.

If you like yurts, cabins, or tent camping they have it all. The general store is stocked with your general food items and other camping needs items. Great for groups if you are getting/sharing a cabin. Bathhouse is large and nearby.

We had a great weekend and can’t wait to come back!

-Our site was big and walking around the grounds the other sites appeared to all be pretty good sized as well. They are not lying when they call their sites secluded either! Our area was wooded enough that I could hardly see into the sites next to us. We were also close to port a potty and dishwashing station. They seem to be placed at locations throughout the campground that make it convenient for all.

-The common areas (bathhouse and store) were very clean and staff took great care to ensure covid precautions were followed.

-my kids LOVED tubing in the riverfront and The swimming hole. Super adorable and relaxing little spot.

-very short driving distance to some great hiking spots/ waterfalls

This has been our go to camp ground for the past six years. We have seen the river changed throughout the years so best campsites can differ from year to year. All the 55s are pretty good 104 is the best but it’s small.. The views are pretty breathtaking if you get a river site. Bathrooms are a 7 out of 10. General store is super convenient and has everything you need, including alcohol breakfast sandwiches and coffee. There is absolutely zero cell phone service so walkie-talkies are a must if you have kids that like to go off. We were able to pull some trout out of the river this year and cooked them on the campfire which was pretty cool! There are also a lot of good bike trails around the campground. Campground can tend to be very dusty so keep that in mind when setting up your campsite. Also if the forecast shows heavy wind the river sites can be a bit challenging as you are open to the elements. 

Grest spot for some river fun and relaxing. Very central to white mountain region. Fun for all ages. Tubing, swimming, playing in the river that runs along the campground.

We camped here for two nights for our first family camping adventure — two adults and two kids ages 5 and 7. The campground was very clean and well organized, and the sites were relatively private. There were some camp sites right on the river, but, if you’re looking for shade or have kids, I’d suggest staying away from the sites on the river.

The river is great for exploring! But it’s extremely cold, swift, shallow, so it’s not ideal for swimming.

A couple of important things to know: 1) except for one small bath area, there were porta potties throughout the campground; 2) because it’s between two rivers (one is pretty swampy), it was very buggy; 3) the store was a good place to buy forgotten items, and they had coffee; 4) it’s a big campground and can get loud despite the quiet times.

We love this campground and stay every summer. Nice clean facilities for showering. Easy access to many trails and local swimming holes. Some more private hike in sites available. Friendly staff with nice store at the campground

Best campground I have found

Great campground for all ages. A group of us go yearly. No cell service which is awesome.

Fun to play in the beginning of the saco

Very conveniently located in the middle of Crawford Notch NH. Close to many attractions and hiking trails. Nice clean bathroom/ shower room. Staff was very helpful helping my group pick some nice sites next to each other. The campstore is nicely stocked with groceries Plus beer wine and coffee.

this campground is large but sites are spaced nicely with privacy (more so the farther away from the entrance). great sites right on the river (bring a float!). sites near the creek will hear cars from the main road, not that it is heavily travelled. 60 acres of trails lead from the campground.

One of our favorite sites by the river. This picture was taken in 2017 at a site right off the river and we had a blast tubing down the river and swimming in the deeper spots. The campground has a bathhouse on site with showers, a general sore with food and other good, and also plentiful trails nearby. Unfortunately when we went in late spring of early 2018, the river dried up bc of the drought. This won’t stop us from coming every year though.

absolutely LOVED the campground itself. private tent site, by a small river and private part of the Saco that was nice to cool off at. plenty of dish washing stations too. only thing is the use of portapottys....and when we stayed the sewer was broken so the regular bathhouse was unusable. they did send an email out saying we could refund if we cancelled but they didn’t give us a discount for coming still. that would of been the nice thing to do. also check in is only until 8pm which makes it tight when needing to drive from far away. overall good stay!

There is a wide range of camping here. Cabins, yurts, and tent sites. The closer to the (well stocked) general store the less private. But if you're looking for picturesque get a spot by the river. You won't be able to drive up, but it's only a short walk.

This is a popular place so book early. Also note you will most likely have no phone signal while you are here. (That may be a blessing or a curse depending on how you look at it!) We enjoyed our stay here.

our site was located right along the river, just a short walk away from our car. the campground was clean and quiet, and sites along the river are spread out well! there are a mix of cabins, tent and RV sites here and the main camp store has a ton of helpful items (and beer!). The river was just In the other sIde of the tree line, keeping our site private. We loved it here and would go back.
