Awful experience
Steer clear of this place! Plenty of other campgrounds in the area, no need to visit here. We've camped cross country and back and have never had an experience like this one. Most reviews are subjective and nitpick but this place is horrid. We were traveling from Pennsylvania and hit traffic and weather on the way so we called ahead to make accommodations for a late arrival. The rude & dis respectfulness began on the first phone call. The owners begrudgingly agreed to work with us but ONLY if we arrived by exactly 9pm and even then, there would be a $30 late charge. Imagine the pit in your stomach when you're racing up against a timeline through torrential downpours on back roads. We arrived at 9:10pm to the lights out and no one around. After 30 minutes, we finally tracked down the "night shift" crew on a golf cart who was riding around yelling at people for any and all rule infractions who told us he was not going to be able to let us in because we missed check in time. The owner then met us in the parking lot to re-affirm his commitment to his unaccommodating policy. The owner changed his story on multiple occasions, blaming quiet time at 10pm (even through we were there by 9:10) and finally settling on the story that the key-card gate stopped working at 10pm, and therefore he couldn't let us in. Keep in mind this guy lives on the premise and obviously could override the gate system. Don't get me started on the "no re-entry" policy after 10pm and the host of other ridiculous rules. He challenged us on multiple occasions, implying that we were lying about our arrival time, our phone conversation with another employee earlier that day, that we didn't pay ahead in full over the phone as a gesture of goodwill, etc. This P.O.S went as far as to posture towards us in a threatening manner. After a 30 minute spirited debate, this bastard agreed to a full refund and we were on our way. Some people just should not be in the hospitality industry and this guy is one of them!
