Perfect Stopover
We stayed here for one night as we were traveling. Very nice bathrooms with showers. As it was early in the season we had no problem getting a site. Only the lower half was open. The lake has been drained - we were told they are rebuilding the dam. We would stay here again.
NICE place!
Thought for sure Elk Flat would be packed late on a sunny summer Saturday afternoon. Pleasantly surprised with plenty of options! Up off the canyon floor. Clean, Quiet, Well maintained campground. Flush toilets. Push button showers. Shower temp is whatever the camp host decides. Ours - Perfect!
Really nice sites
You can locate the campground on your left hand side right before you get to cave late so if cave lake campground is full you have the ability to come back to this one and enjoy camping just a few minutes from Cave Lake. Overall identical campgrounds to Cave Lake except you get a lot more green because you’re a bit further up really stunning views of the surrounding mountains wildlife everywhere!!! the road going up is dirt so It can be muddy and much harder for heavy vehicles to get up to. When it snows they shut this down due to the mud.
You can camp here for free if you have a state park pass but if not camping is fairly cheap they do have restrooms, at each camp spot they have tables and fire rings. They did Have a bit of construction going on up there in regards to making sure the roads were completely even an easy drive for people to get into very well-kept grounds as well.
At this location at the bottom of the hill they do have a dump station provided which is pretty cool

The color of the lake is unreal
Very nice camp ground and great fishing! This place is awesome and the temperature was perfect. Each site offers a nice table, fire ring and good sized tent pad. We made some incredible dutch oven turkey chili!!
Everyone was so nice. Clean showers and the bathrooms were spotless.
Trout fishing at its best!
We found our spot mid afternoon on Thursday and shortly after that all the spots were filled and all night Thursday and Friday people were looking for spots and striking out. Just keep that in mind. Really cool trails and a scenic loop nearby. They do have another camp ground about 10 minutes away if it’s not snowing it’s open so you now have a back up. Oh and they have a fish cleaning station it wasn’t working but they still have one

quiet, easy, and clean getaway spot
i camped here towards the end of october and upon arriving, there were only two other spots taken. by the time i was leaving i had the grounds to myself. there’s a simple self pay station. make sure you have cash to pay. i believe it was $15 a night. there were also clean toilets, sinks, and showers. the spots each had a picnic table and fire pit (for when there aren’t fire restrictions). it was so quiet and the view of the valley was so calming. i needed an escape from city life and these grounds offered that. there is a lake and a few hikes nearby. make sure to get gas in ely before you hit the road home. you may not pass another gas station for a while, especially if you drive out toward st. george.
Great place to chill out
I spent two nights here and really enjoyed the campground and surrounding activities. The campground was clean and well maintained. Campsites are gravel, have fire pits and tables. The campground has flush toilets, warm water and showers that are free.
This is a high desert campground, it was in the 80s during the day in late September and cooled off quickly at night.
Nearby there are several great hikes / mountain bike trails. Cave Lake is also close. It is a small lake a perfect for swimming, canoeing or kayaking. There are also several OHV roads.
Perfect break on our way to NoCal Hwy.
$15 per night. I would have give this campsite as is a 3.8 if I could or maybe even 5 stars but the lake was very low and so the bottom was like quick sand where we'd sink about 18 to 24 inches (thick sediment). So we spent the entire on our floaties. There are 8 or so camp spots and if they are full or your in an RV you can use an overflow area. Juat where we parked thinking it was the overflow area. Fortunately for us we were there only one night and the next morning a ranger came by to let us know that we were in a no camp zone. Oops Easy acces to the lake. The road into the park is paved. The bathroom was clean.

Nice but still hot
First off, all the facilities were super clean. Showers were cold and the area doesn't have much shade. They also no longer have a firewood pile to take from so make sure you bring your own. It's a nice distance between Comins Lake and Cave Lake. Handicap spot was concrete and helped my son traverse around the campsite.
Best spot outside Ely
Cave Lake State Park offers outstanding recreational opportunities year-round. Stocked with rainbow trout and home to German brown trout, the 32-acre reservoir provides outstanding fishing and boating. Other summer activities include swimming, hiking, camping and mountain biking. Once winter arrives, guests of the park can enjoy ice fishing, skating, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. The park is also home to abundant and diverse wildlife.
The campsites are very nice and offer views of the lake, be aware of mice....don't leave any food out!
Star gazing here is incredible as there is no light pollutin...sit back and watch the wheel in the sky turn - Milky way baby!
Cave Lake State Park
Wonderful place to camp. They have fire pits, shade, lakes, restrooms, and a place to get supplies of needed including firewood. They also have a play ground for the kiddos and they just loved it. Check it out yourself I don't think you will be disappointed.
