About a mile off I-80 behind Ogallala's truck stops, this KOA Journey sits surrounded by corn fields with pioneer wagons scattered throughout the property. The campground accommodates RVs up to 80 feet with full hookups and maintains a compact layout where sites cluster closely together.
The facilities draw consistent praise from overnight travelers. "Very friendly staff and very clean park," notes Doug W., and multiple reviewers highlight the modern bathrooms accessible by keycode. The shower facilities feature contemporary design, and the laundry runs $2 for washing, $1.75 for drying. A small camp store stocks basics, while the seasonal pool provides relief during summer months.
Sites pack tightly together in what one camper described as "parking lot" spacing, particularly for tent camping. RV campers report their entry doors face neighboring hookup areas, though several mention the proximity becomes less noticeable once settled. The campground includes a small fenced dog exercise area and playground equipment. Highway noise carries faintly from I-80, but most find it manageable for overnight stays.
Access requires navigating about a mile of back roads from the interstate, and some reviewers mention rough patches along the route. The location puts campers within walking distance of a Dairy Queen and close to Walmart for supplies. Staff members check on arrivals and provide local dining recommendations, including delivery options if ordered by 7:30 PM. For travelers exploring the area, places to camp around Ogallala include several other options along the I-80 corridor.
The campground works well as a convenient interstate stopover, with clear signage directing arrivals to assigned sites and efficient morning departure layouts for continuing westbound travel.
