Reservations are available and recommended at this KOA Journey off Interstate 80 in Ogallala, Nebraska, where nightly rates run $45 to $90 depending on site type. The campground is drive-in accessible and sits directly adjacent to the highway, which means getting in and out is straightforward, but the tradeoff is constant road noise. Multiple reviewers flag this clearly: one notes the traffic is audible even with two AC units running, and Jeremy G. puts it plainly: "Road noise from I-80 is very very loud and should be expected. If you're a light sleeper, stay away." Tent campers in particular have found the noise disruptive overnight. The campground is open April 1 through October 31.
Sites here are level gravel pull-throughs with full hookups, water pressure around 50 psi, and sewer connections at the midpoint of each site, with two choices for hookup position. The campground accommodates RVs up to 75 feet. Patio sites come with paver surfaces, stone fire pits, and LP grills. There are also K-9 sites with private fenced dog areas, in addition to a standard dog park. A small camp store, laundry, and playground round out the facilities. Verizon users report four bars of cell signal, and the onsite WiFi has handled streaming without issue for at least some guests.
Staff conduct is a consistent theme in reviews. Campers receive pre-arrival texts with check-in instructions, and staff escort arrivals to their sites. "Spotless bathrooms, perfectly groomed campsite, and ridiculously wonderful management," notes Jamee N., whose visit included staff monitoring storm radar on their behalf. Late arrivals find site maps and information packets waiting at the office.
Access runs through a commercial strip of truck stops and a Walmart Supercenter within a few blocks, which doubles as a convenient resupply point. Campers routing through western Nebraska can also browse places to camp near Ogallala if this location is full or the highway noise is a concern. This campground works best as a one-night stop for RV travelers crossing the Great Plains who want reliable hookups, clean facilities, and easy interstate access.
