I was initially worried about the other people camping here because I was almost immediately visited by them but the poor kids just needed to charge their phone so I obliged. Aside from that this was a short drive in and I was able to score a spot right on the pond next to a dock. People have driven in to fish and kayak so I don’t feel isolated and afraid, and I am just a few steps away from sitting on the dock and admiring the scenery.

There is a port-a-potty near the entrance but otherwise a “leave no trace” situation which is fine considering the ample forest coverage in case there is someone who drives in.

Each spot seems to have plenty of shade and access to downed firewood, and it looks like there are fire pits at each site. Lots of good tinder left over from previous guests which has been helpful.

Beautiful views, quiet, no insect issues so far, and if I had a rod and reel I wouldn’t need to worry for food at all. T-Mobile service has been exceptional as well. I am planning on staying here for a week or more and I see no reason to find another location as there is no fee or permit needed and you can stay up to 14 days I believe.

I stayed overnight and into the next day here and was never messed with. I felt safe as a solo woman car camper. Plenty of other people staying overnight and truckers parked so I didn’t feel isolated and afraid. The bathrooms are extremely clean and there are vending machines in the visitor center.

The site itself is pretty straightforward, with the addition of nice covered areas at the rent sites (not sure if this is at all of them or just some). Unfortunately it was extremely hard to get rest at this location. The golf carts used to make rounds at all KOAs were nonstop, and moving fast enough to be disruptive. I didn’t expect late September on the Oregon coast to be so busy, but along with the carts there were people driving in and out of the campground at all hours of the night. The staff asked how my stay was and when I mentioned the heavy traffic their tone was defensive and slightly rude. I wasn’t complaining, just answering their inquiry honestly, and thought I would be met with a bit of understanding for my frustration. It’s a great location and I will give it another chance, but my first experience was not positive.

Everyone here was so nice and the staff was absolutely fantastic and so accommodating. Good spacing between tent sites, and they were spacious. It’s set up in a loop with all the amenities right in the middle so no matter where your spot is you’re just a tiny stroll away. Heated pool when it’s in season, and they seem to host a lot of fun events! I missed the ice cream social sadly. They also have air hockey and a ping pong table in the office building. This was my favourite KOA so far!

Note: Bring bug spray! I got bit a fair amount by mosquitoes.

I stayed at a tent site and it was small and very close to other campers (it’s like a parking lot in size and closeness), but I liked feeling a part of a community. If you want some space though, it may not be for you (with tent camping that’s all they have). Big plus for me since it was so cold and windy, was that the restrooms and office were right next to me. They also offered to leave firewood that I wanted in my site, and in case of rain ended up setting it inside at the registration lobby since I came after office hours. One staff member checked to make sure I found everything okay and I appreciated that. They have a K-9 enclosure for a bit of pupper exercise, a playground, and a pool when it is in season. Not much of a view anywhere but they have cool old pioneer wagons all around so that was neat. No complaints and if it weren’t so windy I would have really enjoyed having a cozy site near possible new friends.
