Walking south along the river bank from the Teakettle River Access parking area gives campers entry to large stretches of public land in Columbia Falls where free dispersed camping is possible. The access point itself has toilets and trash bins on site. One important caveat: a posted sign prohibits overnight camping at the access area itself, so campers should plan to move further along the bank rather than camp at the parking area. This spot works best for those willing to hike in to reach legal dispersed sites.
