Beautiful little spot

Stayed 2 nights while I visited Glacier National Park. Found an incredible spot. But if you are a car camper or tent camper there are even more amazing spots than this one, if you can believe it. Only downside is the road getting here is not great..rough and a lot of potholes. Bonus…it’s only 12 miles from the West Glacier entrance.

Very open area lots of camping space

Aside from the potholes on the way in, this was not too bad to access. Very open area with vault toilets and waterfront spots. There are some permanent campers who are a bit sketchy, but didn’t really cause any issues. We did have some run-ins with a few other campers that were not very considerate, even setting up their camper feet away from ours when many spots and additional space was available. Just be vigilant and report any misuse to BLM/NFS.

Cool spot but sooo crowded

lovely spot if you are able to get a spot on the water near no people. generators going til 2 am and starting at 6, loud people. i expect it usually when dispersed camping on a weekend but we were pretty far from most people and could hear everything. also those tent camping there are not a ton of flat spots so try to get there early to not have to sleep on a hill like me

If you have a small overlanding camper, 4WD, or a text/van, this secluded spot just past the recreation area is STUNNING. 270 views of the reservoir. Pic attached of exact road took past normal “camping” area. There is a huge gravel camping area before this site where large rigs could park. There are also other small sites off the OHV road I am on. Def marked as location to come back to. Pretty loud during the day with riders but privacy and quiet at night. Little walkway down to the beach as well. Absolutely no cell service once you turn off Highway 2 about 6 miles out from sight. Starlink works but is a little spotty.

Gorgeous spot

Beautiful spot. Road here isn’t too bad, except might be a bit risky after rain if you don’t have 4x4.

Good for the night

This campsite was very accommodating for our rig (40ft long x 13.5ft tall) and the road in wasn’t too bad either. Plenty of space for lots of rigs and turning around.

Pros:

  • the reservoir access and sun set views were really neat!

Cons:

  • there were a few shady characters about with some weird tent set-ups (lawn mowers, abandoned bikes, and tarps) so we didn’t feel entirely safe leaving our stuff alone for a day trip.

Dispersed site

Drove in on a Wednesday and found a site right on the water. A number of spots were occupied with campers/tents with no one there. Really peaceful spot in my experience and an unbeatable view. Rented SUPs from in town to enjoy on the reservoir.

Pit toilet, well maintained, and walkable from all spots in the area.
