Camp off North Fork Road

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Fishing the Flathead River and watching for wildlife along the North Fork corridor draw campers to this dispersed site in Flathead National Forest, where the river sits directly across the road but river access itself requires some planning. No high clearance or four-wheel drive is needed to reach the grass-and-gravel lot, which sits right off the highway and handles rigs of virtually any size. A 16-day stay limit applies, and there are no toilets or trash services on site.

The open field accommodates roughly 20 rigs with room to spread out, though shade is essentially nonexistent. Leveling blocks are worth packing since the ground varies considerably across the lot. Bears are active in the area, so food storage and trash management matter here. Cell service is listed as available, which is useful for campers coordinating around the nearby McGinnis Creek area or checking conditions before arrival.

Jacqueline G. notes that it's "super dog friendly," and pets are explicitly welcome. The site sits within roughly 20 minutes of West Glacier, with Columbia Falls closer and stocked with supplies. One past visitor flagged the presence of informal camps on the edges of the area, so it's worth doing a walkthrough on arrival. Pack in everything you need, including water, and plan to pack out all waste.

A large open field offering spacious camping for any rig size, located about 20 minutes from West Glacier. Guests found ample space when other areas were full, though some visitors noted safety concerns about nearby homeless camps.

Free Level spots spread out

Got into the area late and was able to find a spot no problem without a booking. Plenty of area, not official camp stalls.

Quiet close to Glacier NP

Drove in around 7pm, had this location as my primary location to stay for two nights. Plenty of space for my 21ft travel trailer. There are all kinds of vehicles here, big RV's to small vans. Huge space to park.

Dirt location, so if it rains be couscous.

Good spot

Good spot, however you do not have immediate water access and the sites here are pretty open with no shade. It is conveniently right off the highway and no 4WD or high clearance needed.

Great spot near Glacier National Park

This is a big rig friendly grass and gravel lot easily accessible and in great condition. There is a 16 day stay limit, no trash and no toilets so be prepared for that. Beautiful views and just across the street from the Flathead River. Super dog friendly and very quiet. There were about a dozen other medium to big rigs back here while I was here but still room for a lot more. Bring your leveling blocks if you want to be level. Some spots are pretty close to level others are not. There are bears in the area but none in camp proper while I was here. Be proactive with your trash, grills and food and mindful of your pets!!!

Large and open

The area down the road was full and had limited car camping / roof top tent camping so my buddy and I moved this way and found plenty of opportunity.

Beautiful spot

Just a big field, room for about 20 figs of any size. About 20 minutes from West Glacier, Columbia Falls closer has everything you'd need.

Big rig ok, but homeless camps within

We wanted to stay here but wasn’t super comfortable with what appeared to be a few homeless camps within the same area. Note: there is no easy river access from here.
