Tent sites quiet, large, grassy, good views
I used the online registration late in the day, so we were happy to get the last spot. Very easy to find in the dark at 10:30 pm because driveway is well lit with little lights, however the driveway is gravel hill going down and very bumpy. Spots for the RV are full hook up & very close but…
We chose Swan Creek from the few USFS campgrounds between Big Sky and Bozeman based on how far it was off of Rt. 191. The others are located right along the road, yet next to the Gallatin River. We heard no road noise and had the soothing sound of Swan Creek in the evenings. But, don’t expect any…
This campsite is located in a beautiful remote area of Montana, only a short hike away from the beginning of the Missouri River. Large site. The only problem was there were many mosquitoes.
I had plans to Boondock in an area and when I arrived it was all full I was tired after a long day of traveling so I called to make reservations here and they were full as well so when I mention that I guess I would sleep at a rest area she said oh do you dry camp and I said yes I do and she goes…
Nice campground and easy to maneuver. Lovely outdoor community space. Showers were okay. Could have used a little cleaning. Staff were very nice. Super convenient and quiet with lots of trees.
We stayed for one night and camped in a tent. The river access was nice, as were the campsites. However, there were not many marked tent sites and there was dog poop everywhere. Other than that, it was very nice! They have 2 vault toilets.
Small campground tucked away from highway. Right on shore of river/resevoir. Heavily used train tracks on opposite shore, so you get some train noise but not horrible. Bugs can get nasty with the slow water. Good fishing area.
Cozy forest service cabin, wood stove for heat. Close to highway, so there's road noise but creek and cliffs make it relaxing to sit outside. (Families with small children beware of Proximity to highway).
Scooters, alcohol, bikes, clothes drying racks, outdoor tables. All of these things are against the written rules of the campground. We didn’t see a lot of enforcement, but the written penalty is immediate removal from the site. The hot springs were fun, but pretty crowded, especially for pandemic…
Second time here and love it as much as before. Huge, open space, great views, hiking, and privacy. Stayed in our rv this time, but the cabin is spacious and well appointed. Too bad they doubled the rates. Maybe making a reservation will be easier?

My wife and I thought we were going to have a nice quiet camping trip.
We camped next to a very nosey lady who was livi g in the campground with tons of kids.
Not what we were expecting😩
Great history filled location. Beautiful location, easy access to I-90.
Mostly level lots, but very close together. A few trees for shade. Mountain views, but city stuff spoils it. Comfort station is decent for the men. My wife stated the women’s smelled like cat pee. Small park next to I90. There is an old looking trailer park next door.

I was able to snag a kamping cabin the day before for one night on the way through bc the campgrounds off the interstate all said the train was loud. Totally worth the extra 15 minutes one way! River on one side, mountains on the other. Wish I could have stayed longer m
