Anglers will find six small campsites positioned along the southwest shore of Nilan Reservoir, accessible via a seven-mile dirt road that winds through ranch and cattle land. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks manages this fishing access site with basic amenities including vault toilets, picnic tables, and metal fire rings at each site. The sites sit close together in open terrain near the road, making them better suited for RV camping than tents, though site five offers a patch of grass for tent campers.
Campers pay fees ranging from $5 to $18 per night depending on Montana residency and fishing license status, using an honor system at the boat launch fee station. The campground operates as pack-in, pack-out with no water available on-site. Sites 5 and 6 provide closest access to the boat launch, while vault toilets serve sites 1-2 and 5-6. For additional camping options in the region, consider campgrounds outside Augusta.
