Deerlodge National Forest's Mormon Gulch sits along a dirt road in Basin, Montana, accessible to vehicles up to 16 feet, but conditions on the ground have deteriorated significantly. A single reviewer visiting in 2019 found overgrown parking pads, missing picnic tables, removed outhouses, and no functioning water pump. The area is largely treeless following pine beetle die-off and subsequent stump clearing. Campers needing full amenities should consider Ladysmith or check campgrounds around Boulder before committing to this site.
