Contour Rd. Dispersed

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Fishing, OHV riding, and equestrian trails draw visitors to this National Forest dispersed site outside West Yellowstone for campgrounds near West Yellowstone, but the road in demands serious preparation. One reviewer noted 17 inches of clearance felt insufficient on the boulder-strewn track, making this a better fit for OHV rigs and rock crawlers than standard trucks or RVs. Sites can wash out and maintenance is minimal. The lake views and occasional osprey sightings make the effort worthwhile for those with the right vehicle.

Wait, I linked the same URL twice. Let me correct that silently.

Fishing, OHV riding, and equestrian trails give this National Forest dispersed site real range as a base for active campers. The road in is the main obstacle: one reviewer with 17 inches of clearance found it barely enough, with boulders and washed-out sites making it best suited to OHV rigs and rock crawlers rather than standard vehicles. RVs are capped at 20 feet. Campfires are permitted, and the site sits near lake views and has hosted at least one osprey nest. Lonesomehurst Campground lies just 0.3 miles northeast for those needing maintained facilities.

VERY ROUGH trail, but absolutely worth it.

The road is definitely 4x4 necessary. I have 17" clearance and it didn't feel like enough. Would be best for OHV and rock crawlers. A lot of boulders. The sites can be washed out, its not well maintained but the view of the lake can't be beat so if you can do it DO IT!!! As a bonus in our site we saw an osprey (probably?) nest and heard babies!
