Beargrass Lodging & RV Resort

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

A bike path runs directly in front of Beargrass Lodging & RV Resort in Hungry Horse, Montana, connecting the campground to the west entrance of Glacier National Park and stretching for miles in either direction. That proximity to the park is the main draw here, and the campground functions primarily as a base rather than a destination in itself. Sites are grassy rather than gravel-covered, which sets it apart from many RV parks in the corridor, though the layout is open and the sites are closely spaced.

Site size is a recurring concern in reviews. Multiple campers with rigs in the 26-to-35-foot range have reported tight conditions, with limited maneuvering room on back-in sites and little outdoor living space once a rig is parked. Trains pass nearby and are audible at night. Cell service gets mixed marks. The facilities, however, draw consistent praise: Matt S. describes it as a "very friendly, clean, small campground" with clean bathrooms and showers. A heated pool, playground, laundry room, and gift shop round out the on-site amenities, and a grocery store is within walking distance.

Full hookups with electric, water, and sewer are available, along with WiFi that reviewers have noted as inconsistent away from the office. A gated off-leash dog area makes this a workable stop for pet owners. Nearby alternatives include Timber Wolf Resort about a mile east. Reservations are strongly recommended for summer visits, and campers with larger rigs should confirm site dimensions directly with the campground before booking.

Many visitors reported excellent proximity to Glacier National Park with clean facilities and reasonable pricing. Site spacing is very tight, but most found the heated pool and friendly staff made up for the cramped conditions.

Find a different campground!

We were traveling with another couple, each with our own 35-foot RV, and booked our stay at Beargrass Lodging& RV in January 2026 for a July 2026 visit. We specifically selected and reserved two adjacent sites that were large enough for our rigs and had enough outdoor space for us to relax together. When we arrived, we discovered we had been moved to two different sites far apart from each other. Not only were we separated, but both replacement sites were much smaller than what we had reserved. Our site barely accommodated our RV, and we had to park our truck just three feet from our door—right where we would normally set up chairs and spend the evening outside. Our friends’ site was backed directly against a cabin, leaving them with virtually no outdoor living space as well. The explanations we received kept changing. First, we were told our sites had been reassigned because another guest’s RV wouldn’t fit in the site they had reserved. Later, we were told the reservation website had automatically“optimized” the campground layout. When we requested a partial refund because we clearly did not receive the sites we had chosen months in advance, the staff member said he would contact the manager. After speaking with the manager, we were told the problem was entirely our fault because we had supposedly failed to check a box guaranteeing our selected sites. We immediately went back through the online reservation process, step by step, all the way to the payment screen. There was no such checkbox. By that point, we had received three different explanations, none of which matched the others. Instead of acknowledging the mistake or trying to make things right, the campground blamed the customer. The campground itself may be nice, but our experience with the reservation process and customer service was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend making a reservation here.

Clean, convenient stop

We picked this park for convenience while having travel trailer brake issues. Came at close of season, and thankful for a later evening check in. A little disconnect to obtain a bathroom Code. Fortunately we saw camp hosts walking dogs to gain access. Dog friendly, including nice gated area for off leash.

Nice park

Great spot close to the west entrance of the park. This was the most reason prices spot I could find in the area. Cool huckleberry shops just a walk away.

Everything you need without paying for what you don't

What we liked about Beargrass is it is so convenient to the park, Whitefish and Flathead Valley. We liked that it is not a parking lot. We liked that the new owners (2020) are working on improving the park (new power poles to include 50 amp). We really liked the bike path that runs in front of the CG all the way to the park. We liked the sited with actual grass, not gravel, and the tree shaded ones. We really liked how nice and helpful everyone is. We liked the prices were more reasonable than some of the other "resorts". What we didn't like as much was the weak wifi, but we understand that they hope to have that resolved by the 2022 season. We didn't like the closeness of the sites, but this close to the park is what is expected. We also didn't like the trains, but every park has the same issue. Ear plugs and or white nose machine and you are all good.

Super small and customer service didn’t win

The campground was very clean and nice grass spots. The sites were very, very small and someone was always having to move their vehicle to allow someone else to have the room to back into their spot. It was basically an open lot with campsites in it. The pool was very nicely maintained but overchlorinated to the point of burning your eyes. Shane at the counter was super helpful and friendly. The young woman that worked there with long brown hair had a real customer service issue- she seemed to have a chip on her shoulder with the guests and acted as though she was doing you a favor by acknowledging your presence. Easy drive to the park.

Accessible park near GNP!

This park was super accessible to GNP and is right next to Willows, that has wonderful ice cream and huckleberry treats. They have a playground, heated poll and gift shop in the office. The laundry room only has 2 washers, but reasonably priced and I got lucky to not have to wait for a washer due to the limited number so there were no issues. There is a grocery store that's walkable. Although a fairly small trailer, it was quite difficult to get into our site for our size(26'). We had to get permission to pull through some of their nice grass behind the office to pull through in order to get parked, although it was intended to be a back-in... not for us. Luckily they were nice about helping to get us parked. Once we were nestled in, it was fine, it was just a bit tight. They pack them in successfully throughout the park though. It was a shady place and also a great bike path right in front of the park that goes for miles and miles. Friendly staff. Giving it a 3 out of 5 due to the tight fit, the wifi was terrible(it would randomly work slow), except on the porch of the office, and not the cleanest laundry room. I wish it were a little cheaper as well.
