Convenient to Glacier!

Great place to stay! Simple and nothing fancy, but kept up and owner is super nice. He seemed to always be running around tending to people arriving and working on maintenance.

It was a quick drive to get to west entrance of Glacier (especially early in the am when you dont have a reservation) and reasonably priced. He has juneberries on property and let me pick them. They were everywhere. Got a couple of good breakfast smoothies and a lot of local spots with Huckleberry items.

Rustic tent sites

Not the most luxurious camp site, but was great for tent camping. Had a water spiket and electricity on site. The bathrooms and showers were nice. The owner was great. Loved that it was close to Glacier but also close to town for easy access to groceries and gas. Was only going to stay for one night but ended up staying for 5.

Lots to be desired

I reserved a site at Sundance when I couldn't find any other campgrounds close to Glacier National Park that had availability for our 40 ft Super C. It was reasonable in price compared to others, but...

First the pros:

  1. We had a pull through site.
  2. Plenty of space for our towed Jeep to park.
  3. Beautiful trees and wild huckleberry bushes provided a peaceful setting and some privacy.
  4. It is minutes from the West Glacier entrance.

Cons:

  1. No sewer at the sites. There is a dump station you can use on the way out.
  2. The sites are level, but just barely.
  3. Instead of a sturdy dumpster or bear-proof receptacles, there are old fashioned galvanized cans with unattached lids. All of them were completely full the three days we were there.
  4. The dog run is unkempt and has no doggie bags or even a garbage can for waste.
  5. Although the trees are nice, they are so close to the parking area that we were unable to extend our awning.
  6. The laundry room has 2 washers and 2 dryers, but only one of each works.
  7. The whole place is terribly unkempt. "Rustic" is being generous. "Junky and trashy" is more accurate.

It is too bad that the owner, who was very nice but obviously trying to run this place all by himself, appears to have given up trying to make a nice place. There are junk cars and RVs surrounding the campground and I don't think a weed whacker has been used for years.

I would have been okay with paying $50 a night for this place, not $90.

Basic and close to Glacier

If you want a resort, you will need to go elsewhere and pay significantly higher prices. Bill and Melanie are super nice and go put of their way to accommodate. The sites are in trees with dirt or grass parking areas. Some sites are level, some will require a little work. Some sites are larger than others so I suggest you look at the sites available before committing if possible. Like a lot of RV parks from Whitefish over to the park, trains come through frequently. Closer to the front you don't hear it as much, bit the trade off is the hwy noise. Neither bothered us enough to not stay. There is a small playground. Clean restrooms wiith showers. Not all the washers and dryers worked, but it's not super busy either. Wifi is iffy unless you are close to the office. AT&T was decent for 4 G only. Oh, and I haven't seen this before,, but a few of the tent/car sites have wooden structured to keep ran/snow off. Best of all? It's less than 10 min. to the park.

Rustic, with amenities

I could have stayed here for months. This was such a beautiful campground filled with rustic natural beauty. What you’re not going to find here: nearly manicured lawns, pretension, or resort-like amenities. What you will find: extremely kind camp hosts (Melanie is my kind of people!), wildflowers and native plants, lots of trees and shade, quiet and peace, and very close proximity to West Glacier. The shower/bathrooms were basic, but you could count on a hot shower. There were laundry facilities, again, basic, but functional. There was Wifi near the front office, otherwise we had good AT&T reception (note that we do have a WeBoost on our RV, so that may have contributed to the good coverage). They were also in the process of repairing the fence for a sizable dog run. You’ll also find a playground. They are very animal and kid-friendly. I will definitely be returning!

Very close to Glacier NP entrance

I stayed for two nights on a tent site. The owners are very nice and helpful. CG is nestled in the trees which is very nice but don’t expect any privacy. Sites are very close next to each other. If you are further to the front you have the road noise and if further in the back you have the train noise every hour all day and night. BBQ pit is very nice for fire or grilling. The tables are small and crooked. Nice showers and toilets.

Last Minute Stop Before Heading Into Glacier

We drove from Seattle to Glacier in one day. Last minute road trip in early August. We did no planning other than what we wanted to do in Glacier National Park.

Stopped at Kalispell for groceries and White Fish for dinner. Decided that was as far as we were going to get for the night. Made some phone calls for a tent opening and no one could accommodate us but Sundance. It's pretty packed together, bordered by a fence on the side. Tents on the outside, trailers on the inside of the U shaped loop.

The good: The folks in the office were super nice. Told up we could pick anything that was free at this point. There is power and water at the sites, some have a shelter built for hammocks or tents. The bathroom had showers and stalls like a KOA or Encore campground. It was pretty nice!

The not so awesome: Our site was down on the far end. Close by train noise every 40 minutes or so. Our site was cramped and lot very even. Our table was so warped it was unusable. The bathrooms were a bit of a trek uphill. The trash was overflowing and pretty gross, we picked some of it up.

We were only there to sleep. Got in, set up, went to sleep, packed up at 5am and headed out to Glacier. It would be a fine base for GNP activities, maybe best in a trailer were you weren't relying on provided picnic tables and could drown out the train.
