Beautiful campground

Quiet, beautiful campground located just outside of Kansas City, Mo. We had a full hookup site located right by the playground and it was perfect for our family. Only complaint were the bathroom/shower houses could use to be updated but they were quite clean!

Horrible

Horrible customer service! I reserved a FHU site and upon arrival they said the sites sewer is broken. Instead of offering a premier site (which they had plenty available) or refunding us some money since our site is technically only a water and electric now. They took our money and said screw you! That’s not the camper way.

Secluded location, great hosts

I spent 5 nights here and the camp hosts were LOVELY, some of the friendliest I’ve met. The area was clean and the bathrooms well maintained, if not a bit older perhaps (the showers work, but one was only hooooot hot water and one was basically a pressure washer). The sites have a decent amount of space and you can likely get one with nice shade. Very central to Lee’s Summit and Independence, but secluded near the lake and peaceful. My only complain were the ticks, but it was a rough tick season this spring due to a mild winter—no fault of the campground, but something to be aware of.

Spacious, easy in/out, friendly staff

Really beautiful spot. Lots of grass and open space. There is so much space between sites. Easy access from highway. Convenient to KC. Staff are very friendly. Some sites have concrete pads. Some gravel. Some full hookups, some not. Website was easy to navigate. So read descriptions, decide what you want. Site 78 is gorgeous. Top of a hill. Trees for shade.

Beautiful Campground!

This campground is big and beautiful! It was closed to camping when I visited, but it will open in less than a month. There are some sites with plenty of space around them and relatively secluded, and there are others that are right next to one another which is perfect if you’re going with friends! There isn’t a whole lot of shade, but there is some. Fire places with grills, picnic tables, and nice flat ground at every site!

Convenient Campground to Escape the City

This was the first campground I visited with my new camper. It was easy to book online, the attendants were very nice, and the campground was well maintained. The only thing I did not like was some sites were shared and not individual.

Middle of town Getaway

The original plan was to be in Blue Springs for an outdoor off-road RC event, camping in our pup with a generator at the track. Cue pouring down rain for a week and the event is postponed, with notification out midday on Thursday. I had been eyeing this campground as a possibility for the area, and I'm so glad we decided to pull the trigger and camp anyway! We had a great pick of sites online, were able to book Thursday night and head out Friday early afternoon from central Iowa. It poured down rain for the whole trip, but you wouldn't be able to tell by looking at our site. The staff was super friendly, as well as other campers nearby. We chose a spot near (but not too near) the restroom on an outside loop (site 50). Pros: Facilities are kept very clean, staff is friendly, gated grounds, sites have great drainage, other campers were very quiet, Fleming Park has a lot to do and see, including a native hoofed animal enclosure.
Cons: You may only use campground firewood (BUT, we got 3 buckets of really great wood that lasted Friday and Saturday night), the previous tenants of our site left a bunch of trash behind (nothing against the campground, but irritates me in general), the highway can definitely be heard, but wasn't overly distracting, the floor drainage in the shower house (men and women) was variable dependent on which stall you chose. Most certainly would stay again!

City Camping

If you’re wanting to camp where you are close to city amenities, this is the spot for you. My husband, our dog and I camped in one of the tent spots, but there were mostly RV’s around us. The bathrooms and laundry area were relatively clean and the camp hosts were very friendly and helpful. You can’t see the lake from the campground, and there was some road noise from morning commuters but overall it’s a nice stop for a night or two. We felt very safe here since they require an access code to get into the gate.

A local gem

A campsite not to far from Kansas City but had a feeling far removed. The campground was super clean and well maintained. Out site was great near the entrance but on top a hill and the perfect tree coverage for shade. One of the best shaded spots in the campground.

Nice and spacious recreation area campground.

When driving across country this summer we camped at blue springs and it was a nice place to stay for the night. The campsites were grassy and didn’t have a lot of trees so I imagine it can get hot but the sites were large and everything was clean and well-maintained. We stayed in a tent and arrived a few minutes late and the staff was very accommodating and gave us a spot for the night.

Nice campground close to home

We were looking for something close to home to try out our new-to-us pop up. We were able to reserve a spot on short notice. Our spot- 24 - was perfect. Nice afternoon shade. Very level. Plenty of room to spread out. Close to bathroom but not too close. Fairly quiet - there was some road noise from overnight work being done but I’m sure this is not typical. We had water & electric hook ups

Fun and relaxing

This was our first visit to this campground. the sites were well kept up, with many prime locations near the playground for our kids. Campground staff were beyond friendly and accommodating. Only downside was the lack of big trees for shade through part of the park. Next time I know where to reserve :)

close to home

I try to review campgrounds based off of my expectations. I did not expect this to be the equivalent of camping in the mountains. So, for what I was looking for I gave it a 4 star review. *a nice close to home campsite for a quick get away. between Jackson county parks (Longview, jacomo, and this one) this has the least amount of shade trees, the campsites are closer together, and is stIll close enough to the highway to hear some traffic; thus the 4 star review. however, you get more fire wood with your purchase here than at Longview (credit to the attendant) & you are close to Blue Springs Lake Marina, beach, and trails to walk/bike. Of the 3 aforementioned campgrounds, this one is the closest to home for us. we had a great time and will be back!

Not the value one would expect.

the hosts were very nice, the bathrooms and showers were clean. several nice amenities. there is no shading for the sites in reality and very restrictive with the rules and regulation. (all firewood MUST be bought ($7.00/bundle), no tie off points, very muddy site, (had to undig stakes from washed in mud)). for the price paid, one would expect more shading, direct access to lake (had to drive a distance to get to lake) and larger than expected gravel size which tents were to be put on, so bring plenty of padding and protection.
