This spot has a ton of sites and since it is situated near an Amphitheatre if you plan ahead you can camp here and walk to the show! If you are looking for quiet, check the show schedule at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre though.
The park offers the beach and a nice area of water known as Salt Run (good for paddle boarding or kayaking) there are hiking trails in the dunes and Downtown St. Augustine is about ten minutes away.
The Campground and nearby lake are nice. There are some cool hiking trails just outside the campground with a bit of elevation and some springs. Nice Spot just a short drive from Jax.
This place is amazing and I am hesitant to even give it a review because it is one of my special spots that I go a few times a year. Waterfront campsites well space depart with complete seclusion and peaceful views! Launch your boat from your site, fish and enjoy. There are creeks meandering all through the preserve for paddleboard and or kayaking. There are hiking trails and horseback riding trails and a cool old house once owned by a princess.
We stayed here over the winter and we were pleasantly surprised! The spaces were relatively private, and the bathrooms were neat and tidy and there was water and trash on site. We tent camped and after enjoying the springs we went and had dinner 5 minutes away! This is a great spot because you feel secluded but you can run to a lot of nice restaurants and grab groceries nearby! We will be back.
This is a nice little hidden gem between two major National Parks so we were excited to have a spot here! Basic National Forest camping, no water on-site, basic vault toilet, bear box, table, and fire ring. It was $10 per night First Come First Serve. Get there early because there are only a handful of sites (10 I believe). If you go past this spot there are a few spots near a horse trailhead.
Free Camping alongside the road overlooking Yellowstone and Mammoth Spring. After a few miles on this road, the no camping signs stop and it is free game! We scored a nice overlook and enjoyed the view. Way better than a campground on a busy summer day.
This is a great campsite along Lake Alva and I believe every campsite is waterfront! You can launch a kayak or paddleboard right from your site and most of the sites are spaced out enough that you feel like the lake is all yours! Fantastic spot. It is a basic national forest campground with a handful of spots, it had a clean vault toilet, and no water on site (but a whole lake full of it if you want to filter it). The road isn’t far away so you do hear passing cars in the night, but that is a small price to pay for a piece of paradise!
This was a nice national forest campground just east of Yellowstone and not far from Cody WY. We scored a site with the river right behind us and the camp host told us about the nearby trails for hiking/biking and horses! The amenities are pretty standard for tent friendly national forest camping… Vault toilet, bear boxes and fire pits along with a table. Nice spot for sure! I included a video of the stream behind the site and the trail for reference.
Picture a bit of ground between a fence and a pile of wood with the sounds of trucks whirling past. If that sounds good to you then this is your place!
Why do highway campgrounds give tent campers the stick? Seriously? The tent sites are along a fence bordering the highway… at least put the tents on the other side of the campground and put the RVs with insolation along the busy road. We were travelling across the US and called ahead and booked a tent site and when we arrived late we were directed down two closed roads by Google and another by Apple Maps… finally we arrived at this place and we were very disappointed with the tent site.
The bathrooms were very clean and new and the whole place looks as if it is undergoing a major revamp, but if you have a tent I might think twice.
This is a busy lake campground but we were very pleased with camping here! The tent sites on Buffalograss section provide a fire ring and a table, they are spaced apart and offer waterfront views. The other campgrounds and boat ramp are close, so it isn't too quiet, but it is a wonderful spot nonetheless. Also, I must note there were some 24miles of mountain bike trails nearby and that was fantastic for us.
This is by far one of my favorite places to camp in the country! It is a windy ridge overlooking the badlands and just outside the north park gate. Look for the radio towers and drive up the dirt road to a cliff where you can set up and enjoy a spectacular spot! There is a lot of room for everyone to spread out. But be sure to stake down your tent and secure it well because I have camped there twice and both times I felt like I was going to blow away! But it is well worth it and a magical spot!
When driving across country this summer we camped at blue springs and it was a nice place to stay for the night. The campsites were grassy and didn’t have a lot of trees so I imagine it can get hot but the sites were large and everything was clean and well-maintained. We stayed in a tent and arrived a few minutes late and the staff was very accommodating and gave us a spot for the night.
Let's Share COVID and a campfire song. When we booked a tent site in the KOA we didn't expect much but assumed it would work for the night while driving across the USA. Upon arrival we were a little put off by being stuck with several other tents in a field and noticed we were expected to share our fire ring with the tent next door… this was not ok with us and we left promptly and snagged a nice spot in the nearby Blue Springs Recreation Area. Traveling during summer 2020 has been interesting and to expect strangers to share a fire ring and be crammed very close during a pandemic is not only careless but not fun. UGH
Beautiful Spot. We stayed one night in the RV loop (with a car and tent) and it was quiet and spacious and the vault toilet was clean. Many of the sites had a view of the lake. Then after a few days backpacking we returned to the tent only loop and it was a bit more cramp and not a lot of privacy, but overall a nice Forest campground in a beautiful spot! The lake offered a bit of breeze and kept the bugs down compared to some of the bugs in other area campgrounds.
