Natchez State Park is located just 10 miles north historic Natchez, the oldest settlement on the Mississippi River. Prior to the Civil War, over half of the millionaires in the entire United States lived in Natchez, constructing elegant mansions unrivaled in size and elegance by any in the nation. Most of these splendid homes were spared during the Civil War, and many are now open for tours. Natchez State Park is also famous in its own right. The largest bass in Mississippi history, a largemouth weighing 18.15 pounds, was caught in Natchez lake in 1992. 50 Developed Camping sites, 8 Tent Camping sites, 10 Lakeside Vacation Cabin units, and a Laundry Facility located in the Campground B bathhouse.
This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Once on-site, you may be able to pay for your campsite(s) by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, and the Scan and Pay feature. Only pay for a site that you have verified as vacant. If this option is available, you will need to first download the free Recreation.gov mobile app https://www.recreation.gov/mobile-app prior to your arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service. This campground has 22 campsites and is generally open all year long. This location may be inaccessible at any time during the year due to weather and road conditions.

Clear Springs Recreation Areas is nestled in a secluded area of roling hills. The area, surrounded by tall stands of pine and mixed hardwood treees, provide visitors with a shady forest atmostpehere. A 10 acre lake connects both camping areas.

Okhissa lake is a 1,075 acre lake approximately 15 minutes away from the campground. It has a swim area, day use area, one boat launch. Fish that can be caught include catfish, largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill and other small panfish.

Welcome to the Grand Gulf Military Park! In May of 1962, the Grand Gulf Military Monument Park was officially opened, dedicated to preserving the memory of both the town and the battle in which occurred there. Located eight miles northwest of Port Gibson, Mississippi off Highway 61, this 450 acre landmark is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and includes Fort Cobun and Fort Wade, the Grand Gulf Cemetery, a museum, campgrounds, picnic areas, hiking trails, an observation tower, and several restored buildings dating back to Grand Gulf's heyday. Camping is available at the Park's campground year round. There are 42 full hook-up concrete sites with water, sewer, and electric (30/50amp). Shower facilities are located close to both the upper and lower campgrounds. The laundry facility is located in the same building as the bathroom for the lower RVs.

All sites in campground B are level concrete, water and electric. State park grills, picnic tables and sunken fire pits all for just 20.00 per night. 20 minutes from downtown Natchez. Great spot.
RangerMy husband and I tent camped in Natchez state park February 2019. We were the only people in the park best we could tell. The bathrooms were great (always important to me),very clean, hot running water, all the essentials. The campsite was nice, no firepit, but we were able to make a fire. It was rainy when we were there, so we spent time outside the park. There are almost no hiking trails in the park, there is a nice lake, but no rental ability that we could find. They do allow hunting in the park, so you must be careful.
TravelerEnjoyed my stay for 3 nights. the campgrounds are tucked back in the wooded areas. You drive in from main highway and feel like you’re in a tunnel of trees; temperature drops 5-10 degrees. I was in Campground “B”; nice area with some sites on the lake. Be careful selecting your site, some are uneven and the pad sets above ground level. Sites all have a grill and fire pit. Bathhouse was clean with a washer/dryer for $1.75. Men’s had 2 showers booths. Water pressure at my site was 40 psi no issues. Park is easy access to Natchez and surrounding historical sites.

If you want to go camping were the GPS can't get you there but good old fashion directions will this is the place for you! Ms. Brenda is doing it right. 1/2 mile hike in or Ms Brenda giving you a ride back to the sites on her alterian vehicle. No vehicles allowed. The tent sites are leveled and so comfortable that you can sleep right on the ground. On a day trip you can drive 8 miles into Mississippi to Clarks Cteek for an awesome day of hiking that never forget. She also has to smal A frames back in yent site area and a 2 bedroom up front. You can purchase firewood on site het ready to be one with nature!! .
LegendThis park/campground is about 8 miles west of the town of Port Gibson, near a nuclear reactor (yes, you heard that right). This park is not on the way to anywhere (except the nuclear reactor) and we were apprehensive as we followed the GPS directions but upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised by a park filled with history. Unfortunately for us, the campground was full as the nearby reactor was being refueled and all the employees were either camped out along the road or in the park. Also, the Mississippi River had risen to the road, coming very close to flooding the park. For future reference, the camping fees are very reasonable ($25 or $23 for 62 and older) for a FHU site. There is also an area for tents, although I did not ask the fee for this. There are two camping areas – an upper and lower campground and one small bathhouse that is located in the Upper Campground (one toilet and sink and two shower stalls). I would think one night here would be enough, but if you are a history buff, this destination should be on your list.
The town of Grand Gulf boasted nearly 1,000 residents by the mid-1800s but then yellow fever, a tornado, and massive floods reduced the population to 158 by the time the Civil War arrived in the area. Features include a church, mill, old cemetery, observation tower, gun emplacements, rifle pits.
TravelerMy husband and I spent Easter weekend here from Thursday, April 2 to Tuesday, April 6th. It was a beautiful and quiet campground.
There are two camper camping areas - A and B - and a primitive area as wells as cabins. We were in B area which seems more kept than than the A area. In the B area, there was a bathhouse with washer and dryer that worked VERY well. The bathhouse is dated but clean and warm. Although the gaps between the shower stalls leave little privacy in my opinion.
Several of the sites in B face the lake and nature trails which are beautiful. There does seem to be some updating and maintenance needed but overall was a great stay.
We had our Harley and rode the trace and toured the area. It is a city full of history and beautiful sights to see. If you like this kind of thing, check out Rev’s Country Tours.
Currently, the main entrance to the park is under construction, so we were detoured about 7 miles around very bumpy backroads to an alternate entrance. We enjoyed our stay but won’t visit again until the roads are fixed. Also, there are lots of downed trees, limbs, and branches in the area due to the ice storm in February.
We definitely plan to visit the area in the future.

GuideWe car camp and this was a great boondocking spot for us. Flush toilets, hot showers, and $1 (coin) laundry machines were clutch. Facilities were very clean. The water and electricity at the campsite were also helpful. Lots of RVs here, so this location is suitable for whatever kind of camping you’re looking to do.
Primitive camping is $15, RV hookups/bathrooms/laundry is $22, but they offer a variety of discounts. If you want visible water, ask for campsites 36-40. There are a few short trails that we walked, but we didn’t explore too much. We definitely recommend this campsite.

You can fish around the lake, but I feel it would be better to have a boat to get to the better areas for fishing. Overall, a nice quiet retreat.

LegendWell, we were here a few weeks ago and it seemed so much nicer! We are back because of a local softball tournament we were attending, and since it was nice th we first time.. This time we stayed in site 46. This is in Campground B. The pad is much shorter than expected. Our camper which is 27 feet hung over the back by several feet. Thankfully we had lots of leveling blocks! There is a picnic table and a hole with concrete that is supposed to be a firepit. The showers were open this time and were very clean. The site had quite a big drop off. It was quiet. Water and electricity. Only 22 dollars a night. Warning! Campground A is horrible!! The sites were very unkept and dirty. There was also a camper there that appeared to be a homesteader. It had lots of trash and "stuff" all around it. There is a beautiful lake, fishing, hiking, biking, and kayaking. This time we drove
LegendIf you are afraid of snakes, please keep your eyes open! But don't let that stop you, this is a beautiful quiet campground! We stayed 2 nights in site 40, on the lake; water and electricity but no sewer. Concrete pad, needed 1 block to level. Lake view is a little obstructed from the site we stayed at, but will definitely go back! Lots of trees and privacy, a lake, and walking trails. Cabins, showers are both a little outdated, but clean. Well a couple of spider webs shouldn't discourage you...
GuideThe scenery is very nice at this campground, but they need to work on a few things before this place gets a big thumbs up. First off, the hot water heater tank broke the day after we arrived, and we had no hot shower in the B loop at all. Had to drive to the A loop to get a hot shower, but the tank there is so small, two people can barely get a decent shower before the water cools off. Not good. The trails in the park are still damaged from storms, and there seems to be no urgency to get them fixed. There is ZERO internet at the campground and no Wi-Fi either. You are about 15-20 minutes away from town. So be prepared to be bored out of your mind at this campground. We left early after going a bit stir crazy. Great place for a one nighter or if you just want to get away for a couple days.

Clear Springs Recreation Area,located in the Homochitto National Forest near Roxie, Ms, is probably one of my favorite campgrounds within 3 hours from New Orleans. It's located in a beautiful section of the forest, complete with rolling hills and a lake.
The primitive tent only sites are located about half a mile up the road from the main campground, providing a substantial distance between you and the RVs. The dirt road to the tent only sites is lined with individual camp sites until you reach the back area. The back has a few small hilltops that have about 4 sites per hill. Each hill is about 50 yards from each other, again, providing needed space between you and other campers. All of the sites have fire pits with fold down cast iron grills. The ground was level enough for tents, and there's a good amount of trees for hammock camping.
The RV spots are located near the lake(pond), and have picnic tables and the fire pit. Some of the RV sites are more open air and without much privacy, yet some are nestled amongst the trees on the outer perimeter.
Adjacent to the RV sites are the restrooms, equipped with showers. On a very cold and frozen winter morning, I had decided to visit the facilities. To my great surprise, when I opened the door, I was hit with blast of warm air! So you can rest easy knowing that the restrooms are heated. There is a large pavilion that is open to air on three sides. the open sides have a railing with bench seats. There are also picnic tables located within. Most interesting was the oversized stone fireplace. It looks most welcoming, although I had no chance to use it.next to the pavilion is an open picnic area with charcoal grills and more tables. All of these picnic areas overlook the pond.
I understand that there is 17 miles of hiking trails surrounding the area. It looks like a large circuit with shorter trails interconnecting by the map.
I haven't experienced this campground outside of dead winter. I enjoyed the subfreezing temps next to a hot fire. I have been four times in the last couple of years, twice solo and twice with guests. I very much love this campground.
GuideLocated close to Vicksburg, Ms. and on a small man made lake. The area is hilly and has some great hiking trails. The bathrooms are small but do have a shower. Not a lot of room for large RV's so check with them. Water and electric available as well as a dump station.

It has bathrooms with showers and swimming area in the lake, one side shallow and sandy for smaller swimmers, one side deeper. It has pavilions and tables, and great hiking trails around the lake and longer trails through the woods.
TravelerSpent the weekend camping at one of the improved sites with water on site. Site had picnic table, fire pit, and plenty of room for tents and your camp set-up. Our site had a great view of the creek and was a little more tucked away but right by the bathrooms. Trails are throughout the area, couple of fishing spots, lots of picnic areas with grills and a playground. The place was not very crowded and the US Forest Service ranger (Virginia) was very kind and helpful. We hiked some of Richardson Creek Trail, but decided to turn around because it was overgrown at points and we found ticks on our dog. Otherwise, it was a beautiful walk through the woods. Several large banana spiders set up along the way so keep an eye out! Also, the county is supposed to be under a fire burn until the end of October.
