Natchez State Park - Nice, Quiet, Tucked Away

Enjoyed my stay for 3 nights. the campgrounds are tucked back in the wooded areas. You drive in from main highway and feel like you’re in a tunnel of trees; temperature drops 5-10 degrees. I was in Campground “B”; nice area with some sites on the lake. Be careful selecting your site, some are uneven and the pad sets above ground level. Sites all have a grill and fire pit. Bathhouse was clean with a washer/dryer for $1.75. Men’s had 2 showers booths. Water pressure at my site was 40 psi no issues. Park is easy access to Natchez and surrounding historical sites.

    Campground was great!

Ms. Brenda is the best! This campground has all the amenities! Hot water is tricky but the coffee pot makes up for it. There’s a microwave as well. Most of all the sites are separated by the ravines. We hiked down to the creek from the site and also went on trail C at tunica. I wouldn’t recommend trail c if you have small kids unless you wear them in a pack. Brenda has wood you can purchase if you forgot or run out. We were right next to the bathroom, sink, and shower.

    Great weekend getaway

Clean and quiet. Trails are well maintained. Our spot was a perfect ledge overlooking the lake . Can’t beat $20 a night which includes electric and water.

    Beautiful, Rustic, Snakes!

If you are afraid of snakes, please keep your eyes open! But don't let that stop you, this is a beautiful quiet campground! We stayed 2 nights in site 40, on the lake; water and electricity but no sewer. Concrete pad, needed 1 block to level. Lake view is a little obstructed from the site we stayed at, but will definitely go back! Lots of trees and privacy, a lake, and walking trails. Cabins, showers are both a little outdated, but clean. Well a couple of spider webs shouldn't discourage you...

    Mostly peaceful

You have to carry your stuff to your camp site as people have already said. Ownership is nice and helpful. You can buy a small bundle of wood for $5. Stayed in the little A frame cabin. Port-o-potties are clean and there is a shower and a sink. I also had good service the whole time(verizon.)

    Nice family campground

$20, $13 with fed pass. 22 sites. Electric & water hookups. Dump station. Two campground loops - B: Sites 1-12, & A: Sites 13-22. Loop A is prettier that Loop B, but Loop B has more level sites which may be more suitable for larger campers. Camped at site 7 in a camper van. Large site backed against the woods with access to a hiking trail. Not much privacy between sites. Nice family campground. Sites have table, lantern post & fire ring. Picnic Area also in this rec area. Beautiful setting by the lake. Restroom/shower house needs some work. Mens shower stalls have standing water in them - possible drainage issue. Women's toilet stalls also have a similar issue due to a leaky toilet. Bugs were not too bad here in April. No AT&T & T-Mobile service at our campsite, but picked up a weak signal by the lake.

    Beautiful and unique

Loved this small quiet camp ground. It is basically hike-in, although the host is great enough to offer to haul your stuff with her 4WD atv cart. The common areas are a surprising bonus. Shower was lukewarm but portopotties are spotless. Dishwashing station and outdoor kitchen are icing on cake.

We stayed at the site “Wilson” which was incredible. If you don’t want / need electricity site #10 is tops.

    Night Life

The campground is very secluded, so you get to experience the sounds of the woods at night. Clark’s Creek is nearby for superb hiking. Port-a-Potty was clean. Road in to site is narrow, but camp host very nice. Call to reserve.

    Natchez State Park Campground

    Needs some maintenance

The scenery is very nice at this campground, but they need to work on a few things before this place gets a big thumbs up. First off, the hot water heater tank broke the day after we arrived, and we had no hot shower in the B loop at all. Had to drive to the A loop to get a hot shower, but the tank there is so small, two people can barely get a decent shower before the water cools off. Not good. The trails in the park are still damaged from storms, and there seems to be no urgency to get them fixed. There is ZERO internet at the campground and no Wi-Fi either. You are about 15-20 minutes away from town. So be prepared to be bored out of your mind at this campground. We left early after going a bit stir crazy. Great place for a one nighter or if you just want to get away for a couple days.

    Already Planning a Trip Back

The campground is well taken care of. The owner rides her cart through the campsite several times a day to deliver firewood as needed. There are areas for the kids to play in the woods some of the areas are steep and they needed supervision (5&6 year old). It’s about a 10 minute drive to the wildlife management area if you are in to that. Geocaching and several trails nearby. My only suggestion for improvement would be to remove the indoor sink and install a 2nd shower in the bath house. We are already planning our trip back.

    Nice Campground

Nice campground with decent showers and bathrooms. Electric and water at every site. Nice playground by the lake. There was decent shade at half of the sites on the loop. The road was a little rough on the way in but not too bad.

For a quiet place without cell signal.

This place is wonderful beautiful place. I should keep it a secret but i can share. Their are two locations one in a valley it an awesome spot only draw back no campfire because the smoke does not leave the valley it just collect between the two hills. The second is on a hill top. I LOVE THIS SPOT . IT A TALL HILL BUT YOU CAN MAKE IT. You have call to make your reservation and pay when you get their. It cost 25 a day well worth it. Call if you going be later then 5pm they lock the gate. They will give you lock comb. The pmt is also the tour . The museum and display. It has a road on the park about a mile with a 6 teir lookout tower. Try it for a quiet open spot, you will love it

    My favorite camping site

It's daddy's favorite site so much that the kids are getting tired of going even though they do have fun.

It is 1st come 1st serve except for the group as site.

Unless your showing up late Friday or Saturday usually spots are available. Last two times I've been the whole park is full even the primitive site.

You'll get cell service on the upper loop.

None on the lower but it seems to be the best area for family with little ones as it's easier to ride bikes around.

Great get away....but beware of detour to entrance

My husband and I spent Easter weekend here from Thursday, April 2 to Tuesday, April 6th. It was a beautiful and quiet campground.

There are two camper camping areas - A and B - and a primitive area as wells as cabins. We were in B area which seems more kept than than the A area. In the B area, there was a bathhouse with washer and dryer that worked VERY well. The bathhouse is dated but clean and warm. Although the gaps between the shower stalls leave little privacy in my opinion.

Several of the sites in B face the lake and nature trails which are beautiful. There does seem to be some updating and maintenance needed but overall was a great stay.

We had our Harley and rode the trace and toured the area. It is a city full of history and beautiful sights to see. If you like this kind of thing, check out Rev’s Country Tours.

Currently, the main entrance to the park is under construction, so we were detoured about 7 miles around very bumpy backroads to an alternate entrance. We enjoyed our stay but won’t visit again until the roads are fixed. Also, there are lots of downed trees, limbs, and branches in the area due to the ice storm in February.

We definitely plan to visit the area in the future.

    Quiet country living

This is a nice campground with 30 amp 50 amp and 120 volt plugs, sewer connection and the upper lot allows campfires. When there is an outage yes a lot of workers stay here but when the power plant is not busy it is a hidden gem. A lot of history for those who love history.

    Everything you need - affordable

We car camp and this was a great boondocking spot for us. Flush toilets, hot showers, and $1 (coin) laundry machines were clutch. Facilities were very clean. The water and electricity at the campsite were also helpful. Lots of RVs here, so this location is suitable for whatever kind of camping you’re looking to do.

Primitive camping is $15, RV hookups/bathrooms/laundry is $22, but they offer a variety of discounts. If you want visible water, ask for campsites 36-40. There are a few short trails that we walked, but we didn’t explore too much. We definitely recommend this campsite.

    So peaceful

Don’t let the condition of the road or the buildings scare you away from this state park. These people have had to clean up after 2 hurricanes this year. All sites in campground B are level concrete, water and electric. State park grills, picnic tables and sunken fire pits all for just 20.00 per night. 20 minutes from downtown Natchez. Great spot.
