Oak Grove - John W. Kyle State Park

Campers arrive at Oak Grove via a drive-in access road that leads to spacious sites set beneath large pine trees. The campground operates seasonally from April through September and sits near the Lower Lake section of Sardis Lake. Sites vary in length, with some offering more room than others, though most provide reasonably level ground for setup.

The lake proximity draws fishing enthusiasts, with water access available directly from the campground. A swim beach, boat launch, and boat dock serve visitors looking to get on the water. The nearby spillway provides additional fishing opportunities. However, recent reviews indicate maintenance challenges, with some bathrooms remaining closed following storm damage from several years ago.

"Water views and access to the Lower Lake" highlight the campground's main appeal, according to Shana D.. The facility operates on a first-come, first-served basis without reservations, which means site selection depends on arrival timing. Cell service reaches the area, and basic amenities include drinking water, restrooms, and trash service.

This campground works best for anglers and boaters who prioritize lake access over extensive facilities. The seasonal operation and no-pets policy are important considerations for trip planning. Campers exploring the broader region can find additional campsites around Sardis for alternative options.

Guests commonly noted the clean, spacious sites with pine trees and water views. Some concerns about facility closures and noise issues, plus no-reservation policy creates uncertainty.

It is ok

This is a fisherman's camp. The campground is only half available. Most bathrooms are closed due to a storm 4 years ago. Not well maintained and no one around to help with registration. I guess if you like to fish it would be ok.

Still nice but it has gotten noisy

This is our second review of this campground. While still a well maintained campground, the noise is ridiculous. The fellow a couple of spots over has mowed the grass of his campsite three times since arriving. Nothing like a loud gas mower running constantly to grate on the nerves.

Great COE campground!

This is a great little COE campground on Sardis lower lake. It is clean and well maintained. Bathrooms/showers are clean and work well. They have a courtesy dock for boats and a fishing pier with benches. A nice little playground in the center of the park. It can get a little crowded at times, but that’s a good sign!

Nice COE Campground

Mississippi does a great job of maintaining their COE campgrounds. Nice, spacious spots underneath large Pine trees. Water views and access to the Lower Lake. There is a popular swim beach, boat launch and boat dock. The spillway is also close by for fishing. Do not get this park confused with the John Kyle State Park Campground that is directly next to this one. This park is much nicer!

Oakgrove Campground, Sardis MS

Most sites are reasonably level with some longer than others. Some are located in Pine trees. The bad part is that they don't take reservations, so it's a gamble on what you get.
