Boat-in access defines the experience at Gin Creek, a small Army Corps of Engineers campground on Lake Okatibbee within the campgrounds near Okatibbee Recreation Area. With only six or seven sites set close together on shaded grounds, this is a low-infrastructure spot: expect a pit toilet, picnic tables, fire rings, and drinking water, but no showers or electrical hookups. The campground runs on an honor system, with nightly rates historically around $6 to $10, making it one of the more affordable options in the region.

Water access is the main draw. Reviewers consistently note the proximity to the lake, with fishing, swimming, and paddleboarding all within easy reach of the sites. Daniel S. sums it up as "lots of swimming fishing and paddle boarding." The grounds have been described as well-maintained and clean across multiple visits, though campers should watch for ants and ticks, which at least one reviewer flagged as a genuine nuisance. Sites are shady through most of the day.

Crowds tend to stay light, particularly in spring. The campground is first-come, first-served with no reservation system, so arrival timing matters on busy weekends. Nearby alternatives include Twiltley Branch to the south and Okatibbee Lake Waterpark a short distance southeast, both on the same lake. Gin Creek makes the most sense for anglers, paddlers, and tent campers who prioritize water access and low cost over amenities.

Fairly inexpensive camping right on lake!

First impressions are everything right! Well the camp immediately seemed well cared for, maintained, clean. It is pretty cheap 6$ for a tent site. There are only 7 sites and they are pretty close together. that is about the only con about this place. we had the site fairly to ourselves in april which i shocked about. if your into fishing, swimming, cheap, well maintained campground this is the place for you. We inflated the SUP and caused around a little. Well worth the 6$ Stayed for 2 nights. Lots of swimming fishing and paddle boarding.
