      Lake Carlos State Park Campground

      Beautiful and quiet

End of October, Stopped for just one night, probably about a 20ish minute drive from 94. Was able to purchase firewood after closing, and the campsite were easy to find after (7$)entry to the park. Campsites are reserved through an online system. We found the top campsite completely empty and plenty of sites had good tree coverage for privacy/ way no protection. Nice level sites with soft ground. Each site had a fire ring and picnic table. The only bathroom in walking distance to the upper campsites was a vault toilet located amongst the cabins. Seems like a great place to stay any season.

      Hankinson City Park

      Small town park

4 grass spots with 30 amp electric picnic table and trash cans. Dump station at the pay box but no water. Found a business that let us fill our tanks. Bathroom across from the sites. Quiet park very nicely kept. Laundry mat across the street. Would stay here again.

      Golden Eagle Campground

      Great for families

On the Gunflint Trail  off the beaten path! Get away from it all...really. No cell to bother you here! On Flour Lake with great service from the staff. Sights are close and tight but have nice tree and foliage growth between sites. No full hook up...but dump station on site. Fishing dock and boat rental on site with reasonable prices. In the Superior National  Forest..lots of hiking trails. Lakes all around to explore and the Gunflint  historical society up the road. Drive trail to end for some great views and the north south continental divide.  We were here for 6 days and loved it. Bath house geta a just ok from me...not the best or worse I've seen. Friendly folks everywhere.

      Ashby Resort Campground

Some semi-private sites - full hookups in other sites

Each site has a picnic table and some sites have a fire ring.  There are tent-only sites that have no hookups and there are semi-private sites for RVs with electric hookup only or sites that are closer together for RVs that have full hookups.

Call 218-747-2959 to book a site.  The campground has a lot of trees and most campsites are on grass.

There is also a motel and cabins on-site that you can book.  The motel rooms, cabins and new cabins (these are like smaller mobile homes) are all lakeside giving you nice views.

The campground has paddle boards, paddle boats, kayaks and canoes that are available to guests at no extra charge, too.  You can rent a fishing boat or pontoon either by the day or the week.  There is a fish cleaning house on-site as well.

This campground is in the heart of Minnesota's lake's country.

      Chippewa Park

      Nice camp views overlooking water

Chippewa County Park offers 15 overnight camping spots with a 2 night minimum for $30 each night. Each site has a fire ring & picnic table and sites 7-12 have lake views which are beautiful. Sites are 20/30/50 amp and spacious but pretty open to other sites. There is a lot of tree coverage within the park so shade is in abundance.

    Guide to French

RV campgrounds near French, Minnesota sit within a region characterized by glacial lakes and rolling prairie landscapes. Summer temperatures typically range from 65-85°F, while winter months can drop well below freezing. What to do

Hiking trails: Buffalo River State Park Campground features several looping trails where visitors can put together hikes ranging from 15 minutes to two hours. Ours was about an hour, half in the prairie and half along the river," notes one visitor.

Swimming options: The swimming area at Buffalo River State Park Campground provides a natural alternative to chlorinated pools. "The swimming area is wonderful! Less chlorine than you'd ever get exposed to in a public pool and picnic table access with lots of area to picnic," shares a camper.

Outdoor games: Andes RV Park provides multiple recreational options for campers. "The park offers a fantastic range of activities, including golf cart rentals, volleyball, horseshoes, disc golf, pickle ball, etc...and in winter, cross-country skiing and tubing—there's something for everyone!" according to a recent visitor.

    What campers like

Clean facilities: Campgrounds in the region maintain high standards of cleanliness. Very clean bathhouse (appears new) with flush toilets, hot showers and a dish-washing station."

    What you should know

Occupancy patterns: Many campgrounds in the region experience weekend surges. At Long Lake Campsite-RV Resort, a visitor observed: "My visit was mid-week, mid-summer and merely passing through... Bug preparation: Insect activity can be significant during summer months. A camper at Andes RV Park warns: "Side note: if coming in summer make sure to bring plenty of bug spray!!!"
