Gunflint Pines Resort and Campground sits on the Gunflint Trail in northern Minnesota, roughly 28 miles northeast of Grand Marais and close to the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The drive up the trail is part of the experience. Several nearby lodges and outfitters line the same corridor, including Gunflint Lodge & Outfitters just down the road, making this stretch of the trail a practical staging area for BWCA trips.
The campground fronts a lake, and a number of RV sites have direct water access. Those without lakefront positioning can use the on-site boat launch ramp. Reviewers note the RV sites can be tight for maneuvering during hookup, though a 33-foot motorhome has fit in the pull-through sites without issue. The resort also rents boats and operates a supply store during the day that stocks groceries and basic goods, which is useful given the distance from town.
Amenities include clean bathrooms with showers, electric and water hookups, a dump station, and WiFi. Vincent W. notes "clean bathrooms if needed with showers" and flags that mosquitoes can be severe in June, which is worth factoring into packing decisions. Tent campers use the campground too, not just RV travelers. Rates range from $34 to $750 per night depending on site type, so checking current pricing and booking in advance is advisable, especially for lakefront sites in summer.

From Duluth, MN take Hwy 61 (North Shore Drive) 2 hours to Grand Marias, MN. Pass thru Grand Marais and turn left on the Gunflint Trail Natl. Scenic Byway (cook county 12). Travel 43 Miles to S. Gunflint Lake Rd (cook county 20 -old 50). There's a large sign at the corner of the Gunflint Trail and S. Gunflint Lake Rd. Turn right, then travel about 1.1 miles. You'll pass by the Gunflint Lodge, we'll be the next property on the left. the speed limit is 50, unless marked otherwise.
