Beautiful Campground in the Driftless

Been here multiple times throughout my life. Great hiking to Cushons Peak, and excellent Kayaking/Tubing. No rapids here folks, just a lazy river with nice sand bottom, no shoes needed!

A beautiful campground with a beach and hiking

Cushon’s Peak has so much to offer. It’s a beautiful campground with river access on a nice beach, and hiking galore. I’ve hiked all over the bluff known as Cushon’s Peak and it has easy parts and challenging areas. And although the entire vertical climb is probably going to be less than an hour if you don’t take breaks, it will challenge all, even the experienced hiker, to varying degrees.

Great location in Bluff Country!

Cushon’s Peak is located right off of the Root River State Trail outside of Houston, MN with access to amazing biking, swimming, and tubing. The bike trail is the best trail in the tri-state area so be sure to check it out! The campground is nested along the Root River and has a nice little beach to visit.

The campground itself was very quiet. I enjoyed how peaceful this area was and how much space each site has. Everything was very clean! I enjoyed taking in the beauty of Southeastern Minnesota here!
