WaterTrail Ventures Paddle Respite sits along the Kalamazoo River in Fennville, accessible by both car and boat for campers seeking river-based recreation. The rough access road leads to forested and open terrain near both river and lake water. Pricing ranges from $75-$145 per night, with reservations available for those planning ahead.
The campground caters to paddlers, with multiple reviewers noting abundant wildlife viewing opportunities during kayak trips. Sites include air mattresses with bedding, grills with charcoal, and complimentary firewood service. One visitor mentioned the sassafras firewood provides natural mosquito deterrent while burning. Solar lighting illuminates the grounds after dark, and campers have access to a private beach area for swimming.
Jeremy K. paddled in from Allegan and found the experience rewarding, noting "I highly recommend spending a night or two here at the river." The campground provides standard amenities including drinking water, restrooms, picnic tables, and allows both pets and alcohol. Cell service remains available for those needing connectivity.
Campers wanting more traditional road access might consider J. Paule's Fenn Inn, located south of the area with easier vehicle access.
