Where the Tahquamenon River meets Lake Superior's shoreline, Rivermouth Pines sits within Tahquamenon Falls State Park roughly 25 minutes by road from the park's upper falls. The campground shares an entrance with the Rivermouth Modern Campground — Tahquamenon Falls State Park, though the Pines section follows a left-hand road that traces the riverbank under a canopy of tall pines. Sites run from $36 to $120 per night, with electric hookups available and RV accommodations up to 93 feet.
Water access is a recurring theme across reviews. Several sites sit directly along the river, giving campers open sightlines toward the water while still holding enough tree cover for shade. Kayak and canoe rentals are available on site, and reviewers consistently note that the river is accessible for paddling. A short trail near the organizational campsite follows the riverbank and includes a small beach and a bench. Mosquitoes tend to run heavier here than at sites directly on the lake, though reviewers note they are noticeably lighter than at the lower falls area.
The rustic sites operate without generators, which keeps noise levels lower than at the modern section. Samantha S. describes spots R101 and R102 as "right next to the water, but still had shade." Vault toilets are on site, and the modern campground's showers are reachable via a connecting trail in about 7 to 10 minutes on foot. The town of Paradise, about five miles north, provides gas, groceries, and supplies. Campers who prioritize river access and low-generator noise will find the Rivermouth Rustic Campground — Tahquamenon Falls State Park nearby as a comparable alternative.
