Best RV Parks & Resorts near Barton City, MI

We went on a family trip to the Tawas Pointe State Park. It is an important stopping point for the migratory pattern of warblers in the spring, and has a very nice nature walk. The nature walk leads out to the lighthouse by the bay, and comes up to the beach. The camp grounds have electrical and water access for RVs and campers, but people also camp out in their tents, and everything in between. There is a small playground that my daughter enjoyed, and a paved pathway through the grounds to Rollerblade/bike on. Most sites come with a fire pit. There is also a large dumpster near the entrance for waster disposal.

Small RV Campground within Golf Resort. 24 spaces. Cement pads, full hookups, quiet, great WiFi. No restrooms but if you are in the area(Hillman Michigan) this is a great place to rest and relax!

There is a good restaurant on site and lovely walking area. Although you are nestled amidst the golf course, you can walk the cart paths before or after the days golfers.

The camp host is very helpful and guided us to our site(we were worried about being able to maneuver the trees with our 42 ft coach but no worries!)

The WiFi is exceptional and our satellite had no difficulty in spotting a signal. Our phone coverage was very good. Our four legged camper had a great time sniffing out the local deer!

There are several “packages” including camping and golf (if that’s what you enjoy) and at times you can take a horse drawn Elk tour or participate in a Murder Mystery weekend.

We came for and enjoyed the quiet! And with Passport America the price was great at two nights for $39.

This campground offers sites for tents and RVs, has water and electrical hookups available, and has bathhouses (if you can call them that). You can also rent canoes, kayaks, and inner tubes to traverse the river with; they drop you off upstream and you bank right at the campground for them to collect the various watercraft. There are fire pits placed periodically around the camp, however, they do not correspond to specific sites and are communal with whatever sites are nearby.

While the views of the river are great from the majority of sites, the entire campground is on a hill. There are few - if any - level areas to camp, and very few hammock-friendly trees. The staff are crotchety and disorganized; they will give you one answer one hour and a different answer the next; they add charges on for every little thing (including showers & firewood - you cannot bring in your own), while the cost to rent a site is exorbitantly expensive (compared to other, comparable sites) to begin with. We attempted to rent kayaks; they were out and told us that we would have had to reserve a year and a half in advance, while others of our group managed to rent them with no problem. The times for the bus to take us upstream were constantly changing with no notification Standard policies such as amounts necessary to rent a site, security deposits, minimum nights required, and how many people were allowed per site were also fluctuating depending on who you inquired with and when you did so. It must be said that when we camped there the camp was far from full, so an overwhelming number of campers could not be to blame at the time.

I would not recommend this campsite or canoe livery to anyone.

Stayed there last October, it was quiet and the campsites were large. There are a couple of ADA sites as well. No electric or water hook ups. The one thing is the water in the Lake is heavily contaminated with PFAS. There are warnings to not touch the foam that occurs on the shoreline of the lake. The boat launch looked nice.

We purchased a seasonal site with a boat slip and it was very affordable from May through October. The WiFi is nice and the scenery being close to Lake Huron is enjoyable, especially in the morning sunrise hour. The hookups work good and the owners are very nice. There's occasional parties and events as well. It really has a homey feel to it. My wife, daughter, and two dogs really enjoy the area. The people camping are always helpful too.

When we went camping here we were the only people here! It was very private and we loved it. There are no lights or hookups so you need to bring a generator for electricity. There also aren't any people working here regularly so make sure you are prepared for anything that might happen. We would definitely stay here again though!

This is one of the worst campgrounds I have ever been to. The bathrooms and showers close at 10pm, and the restrooms themselves are nasty, the showers cost $2 (in quarters) for 6 minutes of lukewarm water, the locals are hostile to unfamiliar faces, and to top it off, the rental ATVs and dirt track to ride them on is o ly separated from the campsites by a board fence, so expect to hear all kinds of small engines zipping by at all hours. The RV trailers for rental are all used trailers circa 1995 and "refurbished", which entails a quick coat of interior paint and laminate flooring screwed to the floors with drywall screws. Guests who have rented the RV trailers are instructed to not use the showers in their trailers. Absolutely not worth the money, would rate 0 stars if I could. If you are looking for a camping experience that puts you in the heart of upper Michigan redneck territory, this is the place for you. If you want a good experience, look elsewhere.

I loved this park. I had a site on the Lake side. First night I arrived the lake was angry and a bit windy, when I woke up, it had calmed down significantly and the sun came out. Overall this campground is beautiful. The bathrooms are very clean. The campground staff was very nice. There is electric which was nice as I went early in the season and was able to plug in a heater.

We absolutely love camping here weather it’s in a tent, hammock or RV we have always loved camping here.

Night sounds are so relaxing.

We typically do the sites closer to Mio sites 1-6

Plenty of trails and fishing.

East Tawas is a place I've visited most of my adult life. There's some walking trails here, the lighthouse is a close walk/bike from anywhere in the park. Getting to town is a few minute drive, or a very long bike ride on the road.

Like most Michigan State Parks, your site has electric (30/50) only. Water spigots are located in various spots throughout the park. I advise you fill your freshwater tank at home, or when you arrive, at the dump station.

There's a few ADA sites with concrete pads, all others are grass. Comfort stations are in good shape.

Beaches are, like most in Michigan, eroded due to high water levels, but still useable.

You can watch sunrise on the Lake Huron side, sunsets over Tawas Bay.

I've never really interacted with staff here, but never needed to. Park is clean. There can be lineups at the dump station.

A few sites are pull thru. Most back-in.

If you have a vehicle, there's many places to see in the area, like Lumberman's Monument. Tawas has a nice farmers market, worth a visit for fresh veg and other items.

We got back from our 5 year anniversary trip, and this time we stayed at Clear Lake State Park!

It was a beautiful campground. It’s was busy but not too busy, if you know what I mean? There’s electricity, full bathrooms with showers, private beach access, and they had wood and ice for sale. There were definitely a lot of kids around, and it appeared like there was a lot of group camping (which this campground’s layout was perfect for)!

We stayed on site 271 in the Lower Campground. The site itself was a good size, big enough for our tent, canopy, our Ford Escape, plus the provided picnic table and fire ring. There were significantly more RV’s and trailers than there was tent campers, but that’s not that’s not a huge deal. It wasn’t really buggy, which is always an added bonus while camping. We were very close to the beach, which was so amazing and convenient. At night, it was so dark and so clear that you could faintly see the Milky Way!!

The beach was beautiful too. It wasn’t busy until closer to noonish, but that makes sense. The water we was clear, and really there wasn’t a lot of debris. The lake allows for paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and swimming. It also allows for motorized boats, though in my opinion the lake isn’t big enough for that (besides a motorized fishing boat)…

Our neighbors weren’t crazy loud, the general environment was peaceful, and overall it was a super relaxing trip! We would definitely go back again!

We have been seasonal campers here at Campers Cove for the past 18 years. We have witnessed MANY OUTSTANDING POSITIVE changes in the operation of this park over our time here. The one thing that kept eluding Mark and Judy was the quality of the internet service. My son in law and I pitched a massive overhaul/ upgrade in infrastructure to Mark and Judy. I won't go into specifics regarding cost, let's just say it was significant and required a massive undertaking. We started the project in May and DESPITE COVID 19 we managed to finish at the end of July. The internet speeds were around 3 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload. We teamed up with Spectrum to revamp their old television cable system to strictly a broadband internet delivery. We have 3 separate networks now, each with 600 Mbps capability. Using the latest in mesh technology, we are able to deliver a minimum of 25 Mbps down and up to each site. You may still need a booster to bring the signal into your trailer because you basically live in an aluminum box. You now can stream, surf, tweet, snap chat or remotely work to your heart's content. As I said in the beginning, I am a seasonal resident here, I have suffered through the"dark ages"(Lol). But thanks to Mark and Judy's commitment to providing the best possible service, your next visit will allow you to fully take advantage of technology. The campground is nice. There is an upper and lower area, the upper is for larger units and has more space per site. No water hookups but water spickets available throughout with spring fed water. Bathrooms well kept. The lake is the best feature and holds up to its name! Can see the bottom it’s so clear.

Pprivate. Modern and Rustic, so tents don't need to be in a Zoo of RVs. Tons of trails, great kayaking and canoeing
