Small but well maintained

This campground has five moderate sized sites with fire rings and lantern poles and a vault bathroom. I didn’t see any potable water but it is located on a beautiful lake. The lake isn’t ideal for swimming as it only has a gravel boat launch, but the lake is really nice and calm. It is connected to the north country trail and is very scenic. Located a short drive/hike from a small store.

Absolutely beautiful trail

Hiked north about 5 miles out of Croton, starting from the campground. The hike is easy, with a few very short steep elevation changes. The trail oscilates between being very "green tunnel" and wide expansive views of pines and older trees without much ground cover. The trail is extremely well marked as part of the North Country Trail, and so its very easy to follow. Crosses a few paved roads in this stretch but since its so far out of the main town of Newaygo its no trouble to cross.

Overall a fabulous morning hike!

Peaceful camping

Five secluded camping spots with large sites and plenty of room for tents and vehicles. First come, first serve for site reservations. The weekend we were there four spots were full. We arrived before noon on a Friday. Fire pit with grate at each site. Vault toilet, but cleaned every day we were there. Twinwood Lake is pretty. Easy access to the North Country Trail system. Rained during our weekend but took an easy walk to a gas station nearby to get more ice and firewood.
