Gorgeous landscape, sparse cell reception

Went to the UP for the first time with a group of friends, and as soon as you arrive in the peninsula, it’s obvious it’s going to be a photo-worthy trip. Lush forested campground and essentially canopied if you go deeper in the park for a hike.

Our campsite was right by a pond with a small beach and pier. Awesome location for a meal and some stargazing. Campsite amenities were solid - nothing fancy, but clean and effective.

Local restaurants, bowling, and landmarks were fun to take in as well - “yooper” land has a culture of its own. Highlight of the trip was a 5-mile or so hike up to Lake Superior for a gorgeous view.

IMPORTANT NOTE: very sparse cell service on all networks! Be prepared to be off the grid.
