Covert/South Haven KOA Holiday

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Reservations are available at this KOA Holiday in Covert, Michigan, which runs from mid-April through mid-October and accommodates RVs up to 78 feet with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer. Sites vary in configuration, with pull-throughs and patio sites available. Reviewers consistently recommend requesting one of the paved patio sites, which come with a concrete pad and provided grill. The campground sits close enough to Covert Park Beach & Campground and Dune Lake Campground that campers exploring camping near Covert have several options along this stretch of southwestern Michigan.

One of the more distinctive features here is the blueberry patches spread across the property. During summer and into early fall, campers can pick blueberries directly from the fields in the morning. The campground store stocks supplies and delivers food and firewood to sites, and reviewers specifically mention the pizza and ice cream as worth trying. Sites are a little sandy, as is common in this part of Michigan, and some reviewers note that the pool area can get crowded during peak summer weekends.

Cleanliness comes up repeatedly across reviews. "Showers and bathrooms were clean," notes Tee D., a sentiment echoed across multiple visits and seasons. The campground also has a splash pad, playground, walking trail, and WiFi that several reviewers found reliable. After 9 p.m., quiet hours keep the grounds noticeably calmer.

Lake Michigan beaches are roughly 15 to 20 minutes by car, and South Haven, about 14 miles away, has a downtown area, a beach, and access to the Kal-Haven Trail, a rail-trail that runs toward Kalamazoo. Jill T. notes the campground is "not far from Lake Michigan and places to buy fresh fruit and veggies," which holds through summer when farm stands are active in the region.

Summer weekends book up quickly, so reserving early, especially for patio sites, is worth the planning effort.

AWESOME

So far this is the nicest KOA ever. Beautifully landscaped sites are very, very nice. Many sites with cement patios and grills. There's cabins and yurts too. Nice very busy pool and slide, play areas, walking trail, camp store with hot food. Not far from Lake Michigan and places to buy fresh fruit and veggies. Check it out you'll be happy you did. We were here twice this year!

Our first KOA

We weren’t sure what to expect given this was our first visit. But overall it was a good experience. Delivery service of food and firewood was great. Trash pickup was appreciated. WiFi reception was a welcomed surprise. Showers and bathrooms were clean. If you go, be sure to reserve one of the sites with the paved patio, pad and provided grill. Very nice. Most importantly, it was very quiet after 9pm when everything closed.

Downside - sites are a little cramped and the pool was very crowded.

Nice sites, great KOA

The KOA had a lot going for it. Our site was spacious and we didn’t even have the patio sites. We had a pull through with full hook ups. KOA was nice and clean. Staff was super helpful.

It had a great pool and splash area. Also blueberry patches. There were plenty of amenities and activities if you are looking for that. We used it as a good place to leave and go to beaches and attractions. Super convenient from St Joe’s up to Holland.

Overall we may look for a campground closer to Saugatuk as we loved that area if not we would totally stay here again it has everything you need.

Great place!

We spent 5 days here in June. The campground is clean, the wi-fi is great. The pool and playground area is nicely laid out. We ordered food from the store and they brought it right to our site. A tornado passed within a mile or so of the campground and the employees were out within minutes to make sure everyone was o.k. The beaches of Lake Michigan are within 15 minutes or so. Be sure to visit the "shoe tree". We will definitely be back!!!

We’ve stayed many times...

This is one our top options when camping with tents, pop-up camper, or even cabins when we come to visit South Haven. The spots are great, a little sandy because it is Michigan. Good showers and clean bathrooms. This KOA has always been a reliable camp spot. The South Haven beaches are just a short twenty minute drive away!

Don’t forget to get Sherman’s while you’re there!

Our Favorite

We camp here every year with our family since it is perfectly halfway between us, in Michigan, and my family in Chicago. The kids love the activities and the pool and my family who are not necessarily "outdoorsy" love that they can sleep in an air conditioned cabin with cable! This is an amazing campground!

Perfect campground if you like blueberries!

This KOA has blueberry fields everywhere on the property. For a period of time in summer and early fall, you can pick your own blueberries in the morning to have in your breakfast pancakes! The campground is nice with camping sites that are level and roomy. It has a nice pool and play areas, but the real attraction are the blueberry patches! The campground is only about 14 miles from South Haven where you can shop in a charming downtown, go to a spacious beach or catch the Kal-Haven bike trail to Kalamazoo. We rode 47 miles round trip from Bloomingdale to Bell's Brewery in Kalamazoo.
