Best Tent Camping near Otis, ME

That camping could be so easy and fun! This is my first time actually camping in a tent for fun. (U.S. Army Veteran)The showers are nice and hot, it's quiet here at night, and it's such a chill atmosphere. Thank you guys for making my first camping trip a fun one! First got one night, turned into a week!

I’ll preface this by saying that we got in after dark and left by 10am so this review is limited. First, while being very nice the front desk worker was not very helpful in helping us understand the layout and our best choice for tent camping that night. She was just not very communicative. After some prodding questions that felt like I was pulling teeth, we chose site 1 which was by the beach and the only tent site in that area of the campground. It was mid Sept on a particularly windy and unseasonably cold night. The wind was coming right off the lake which made it particularly hard to set up. Blocking the wind with our car was our only choice. After we got settled in, a nice fire and a little bourbon made it all worthwhile. While not very private because we were right next to an RV (all the RVs were lined up on the waterfront with little space between), it was still quite a lakefront spot. The site included a picnic table, a fire ring and a charcoal grill. Buckets of well seasoned wood were available at the camp store right next to us. It had a nice porch to sit on for the morning sun but unfortunately, that looked the opposite way from the lake toward the dense central campground. The camp store had a nice indoor dining area with views toward the lake that I believe was also closed for the season. All in all, I would recommend this if you’re not very concerned with privacy and want a beautiful lake to camp by.

We were tent camping. This place isn’t solid for tent camping. Too many sites, no privacy. But it was a big RV Park, close to Acadia, hot showers, playground with views of the bay. Not all bad.

the tent sites are very private. we felt safe and secure. it’s quiet and the staff was very friendly.

This is the first campground we have stayed at that has ATV trail access, horse friendly camping, full hookups, pull through sites, tent camping, tent rentals, teepee rentals, "tiny bird cabin", and a tree house.  

A must see!

Advertised tent camping….No Vans not allowed in non electrical sites or 20 amp sites. Parts look like a homeless encampment, others look like a junk yard. When we found the owner he was unknowledgeable and rude.

The campground was beautiful and had great amenities. the staff was very friendly. I took 2 stars away due to the very expensive price for tent sites.

We stayed there tent camping for several days and loved it. The shuttle service was super convenient and we used it constantly. There was a fisherman who came in with his days catch and made fantastic food. I simply don’t have anything bad to say.

I love this campground for tents or small trailers/vans. Most of the tent sites have wooden platforms! The scenery is great and it’s close to the park. Showers are $1 in quarters for 5 min which is more than enough time. Hot and clean.

Super easy—we arrived late and still found our way very easily. Nice bathrooms, cheap firewood, and picnic table + shelter at every tent site. Only heads up is that the sites aren’t very private.

Sites were spaced out enough for privacy. We had a site with a wooden platform that was perfectly level. There was a enough tree cover that we didn't get soaked during the rain. We went tent camping, but they had some very nice looking cabins on the grounds.

We had a secluded oceanfront tent site that was absolutely beautiful. We had access to the water as well as some beautiful sunsets. It was 20 minutes to Bar Harbor and the most popular Acadia hikes. The shower house was very clean!

Very nice campsites, bathrooms and showers were very clean and easily accessible. Friendly and helpful staff. Only about 10 minutes from Acadia National Park and many great lobster shacks nearby. Would definitely stay again. Only thing was tent sites were a bit pricey.

The campground was older but very comfortable. The pool was clean, as was the entire place. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Bathroom facilities were dated but clean and adequate. Only complaint was tent sites far from bathrooms. But I would go again!

It was a nice site. Very friendly staff. The showers were not the best. 25 cents for 5 minutes but it was hard to adjust the temp so you had to spend a long time hiding from the burning water until it got warm or cold. Other than that, it was really nice. We tent camped.

The premium tent sites were large. The playground was great for the kids. The swimming pool was a highlight as well. The bathrooms and hot showers are dated and get crowded at times. Ice and wood for sale at the camp store was handy.
