Semi-secluded camping close to acadia

This campsite is semi-primitive and semi-private. Although the site describes the sites as relatively dispersed, we were located right next to another family with a dog and we didn’t get that primitive experience. However, the sites are nice and the area is beautiful. They provide a picnic table, restrooms, and a fire pit additionally. Be prepared to walk until you find your reserved campsites because we could not find any signage until we walked up the hill and realized the campgrounds are individually marked on a trail that goes up the hill. Last thing, make sure to bring firewood, because there is no one monitoring the camp and not a lot of places to buy it nearby.

Amazing campground with a quick walk to the ocean and loop road attractions

They have flush toilets! We hadn't seen any in DAYS on our backpacking journey through the woodlands, state and national parks and forests of PA, NY, VT, NH, and ME. Showers are a quick drive down the road, pack your quarters and perfect your 10 gal shower for $2! Easy access to an ocean trail that connects with the rest of the park on the Loop Road. Helpful rangers in the booth to answer questions.

Real outdoor experience, private

We recently stayed three nights at the Acadia MTN campsite. This was my first time camping and we (my boyfriend, pup, and I) had a blast. Loved the little hike into our campsite. Plenty of space and privacy. We plan to be back in the future. Short drive from some great hikes. We took the pup to Schoodic Head trail & also Taft Point Preserve which was a very close by gem. Also if your looking to get away from camp style food there was an awesome little Mexican restaurant a short drive down the road.

Crowded but Great

It has little privacy but it is a great campground that is close to it all!

We brought our dog and still had plenty of room for him to roam and meet new pups too.

Best wilderness camping near Acadia!

If you're looking for real wilderness camping, this is the place to go. It's located between the busy Mount Desert Island section (30 minutes away) and the quiet Schoodic section (10 minutes away) of Acadia National Park. They only have a few tent campsites, but they are spread out so you have plenty of privacy. Nice vaulted toilet. No showers or main office, but they have a huge information board at the entrance to find everything you could need locally (public showers are less than 10 minutes away). Great spot to "get away" when visiting Acadia. Dog and family friendly.

Awesome East Coast national park camping.

Acafia is a national park. The campgrounds are well maintained. There is ample hiking. Cyclists live the area too. One must visit Cadillac Mountain the view is stunning.

If you go into bar harbor try to avoid a day that the cruise ship is in. And make sure you walk across the Sand bar during low tide.
