      We love KOA’s!

My husband evacuated here during hurricane season for a couple of days and I drove up to meet him. We love every KOA we stay in, but this was felt very “homey” - the dog park was a plus and their laundry facilities were very affordable!

Great stop over ... Clean, Nice, easy access

We stayed here for one night on our cross country trip.  It was clean, well maintained, nice layout and landscaping, great dog park, and friendly service.  We had a level pull through with full service with no need to disconnect. Walmart right down the street for replenishing the goods.  Great stop over.

      EASY OFF INTERSTATE ACCESS

We came here for a quick over night stay. Right off interstate by gas stations and food. We were in a pull through spot, which was level, but barely long enough for our truck and 30 ft camper. Full hookups (bring extra long electric cord!), picnic table, showers, cable, dog park, and extra parking area noted. No fires allowed. With Good Sam our spot was 34.00 which was quite reasonable.

      Not to sure

Did an extended stay here, 3 months while working in the area. The staff is great and very helpful and friendly. The dog park is nice if you have them. Park is well maintained. There are only 2 reasons I couldn’t give them more than 3 stars, 1) on monthly rate they charge for electric which I get but it continued to go up even though outside temps continued to drop so no need for my A/C units. 2) During the last 4 nights of my stay there were multiple times I heard multiple gun fire in the area.

Lots of in and out traffic. I would recommend if your passing through the area and need to stop for a night or two but not long term.

      Caddo Lake State Park Campground

      Pretty but loud

The facilities were great. Clean and well kept. The site that we stayed at (#34) was too close to the main road and the noise from the cars was so loud, which led to an awful nights sleep. Also there was a cat (seemed like a camp cat) that roamed around all night and that freaked out my dog. The lake itself was fantastic and otherworldly. Absolutely beautiful in early November. Definitely gonna visit again but will not camp here.

      Cypress Black Bayou Recreation Area

      Great Park

This is a parish ran park that is very well maintained. Security measures are excellent. The park is shaded and all sites are either lake side or almost. There are back-in and pull-through sites. Not all of the park is FHU but they have three pull through dumps. There is a new bathhouse that is very clean and requires a code to be entered on a keypad for entry. There is a small wildlife sanctuary (zoo but no petting) and free roaming peacocks. Good fishing from the docks or by boat. The park is close to shopping, casinos, and restaurants. Love this park.

    Guide to Elm Grove

Campgrounds near Elm Grove, Louisiana offer outdoor experiences within the distinctive lowland ecosystems of northwest Louisiana, where elevations average around 180 feet above sea level. The region experiences hot, humid summers with temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F and mild winters that rarely dip below freezing. Most campsites in this area sit among pine forests or near water features with clay-based soils that can become muddy after rainfall.

    What to do

Hiking accessible trails: Lake Bistineau State Park features a 10-mile trail system with varying difficulty levels. "I took an evening walk on the Discovery Trail and saw two deer. There are several other, longer trails," notes Jacob W. who tent camped at the park in April 2023.

Fishing opportunities: Beaver Dam Campground provides excellent access for anglers. "Sites are scattered. Many beautiful hiking and bike trails. Kayaking, swimming, boating and fishing," shares Cat R., who appreciated the water access from site 16.

Wildlife viewing: The area offers opportunities to observe local fauna in natural settings. "A taste of the swamps in north Louisiana. Spanish moss clad Bald Cypress trees in a stereotypical Louisiana lake," explains Jason W. about Lake Bistineau State Park, though he cautions, "Keep your small dogs on a leash or you may feed the gators."

    What campers like

Level sites with decks: Lake Bistineau State Park Campground receives positive reviews for its site design. "My spot #46 was nice and level and included a deck. Got in some kayaking. Beautiful lake for paddling," reports Daniel H., who gave the park four stars.

Spacious campsites: The region offers camping options with generous spacing between sites. "Spaces are large and well spaced for privacy. Beautiful lake views," writes James B. about Beaver Dam Campground, though he mentions bringing his own fire pit due to the park's poorly designed ones.

Clean facilities: Cypress Black Bayou Recreation Area maintains high cleanliness standards. "The bathhouse was immaculately clean. I went in expecting a typical park shower room with spiders or bugs. There were NONE," shares Lea B., who was impressed with the heated bathhouse during her February stay.

    What you should know

Wildlife precautions: Campers should prepare for encounters with local wildlife. "Raccoons are pros at this park, so you may want to safely store your food and trash if staying in the campground area," advises Mike V. about Lake Bistineau State Park.

Insect preparation: Bug protection is essential in this region. "Loved this camp ground. Big spacious spot with hookups and several close to Caney lake. They pulled a ten foot alligator out of there so my morning swim was a little faster than usual," jokes Rich J. from Beaver Dam Campground.

Lake conditions: Water levels fluctuate seasonally in area lakes. "Stayed in a cabin and it was great! Very clean and useable. Didn't realize they lowered the lake. My fault for not investigating more," mentions Ben about Lake Bistineau State Park.

Playground access: Some campgrounds provide play areas for children. "Tent spots are $4 a night, enclosed in a lightly wooded area, and only few yards away from both the bathroom and the playground. It was perfect for our needs," notes Brittany H. about the family-friendly setup at Barksdale AFB FamCamp.

Animal encounters: Cypress Black Bayou Recreation Area offers additional animal viewing opportunities. "There is much to do at this park. Trails, swimming, boating, fishing, small zoo and museum," describes Lane M., highlighting the pet-friendly camping activities near Elm Grove, Louisiana.
