Barksdale AFB FamCamp

Barksdale Air Force Base FamCamp operates year-round on the Louisiana military installation, providing both RV sites with full hookups and tent camping areas for eligible military families and guests. The campground accommodates RVs up to 45 feet with electric, water, and sewer connections, plus amenities including restrooms, showers, and WiFi access. A dump station serves those needing waste disposal.

The tent camping section sits within a lightly wooded area just yards from both restroom facilities and a playground, making it convenient for families with children. Multiple reviewers emphasize the campground's quiet atmosphere and well-maintained grounds.

The base features walking trails that circle the installation, including an outdoor aircraft display that appeals to families with young children. Reviewers consistently mention the campground's distance from the main base and town contributes to its peaceful setting. One long-term resident noted feeling secure enough to never lock their doors during their stay. Those traveling through the area can often secure reservations or walk-in spots on short notice, and pets are welcome throughout the facility.

Affordable, safe, and convenient

Came to town from a nearby base for our child’s specialized medical treatments. Tent spots are $4 a night, enclosed in a lightly wooded area, and only few yards away from both the bathroom and the playground. It was perfect for our needs. We even stayed a couple extra nights because the kids enjoyed it so much. Great spot for families with little ones wanting a mild camping experience because amenities are right there and it’s secluded enough that kids feel they are getting a true camping experience. The base has a wonderful walking trail/ outdoor display of aircraft that our toddlers thoroughly enjoyed. Extremely glad we took a chance on this underrated spot.

Overall nice park

Our first famcamp, not a bad start. They have a new area for short stays, everyone kept to themselves. Nice walking trail that circles the base. Stayed in January, ticks were really bad, despite not going into the woods. Great facilities.

Good stay

This is a quiet location with nice facilities. We always get a reservation or a spot on short notice, such as when we are passing through. Shower and laundry facilities are nice and well maintained. The campground is a good distance from main base and town, but that ensures a quiet place to stay.
