Great location w/ amenities

We have camped here once before covid and attempted to after, but to the best of my knowledge the area has alot of closures still.  If you are looking for a spot in Kisatchie NF with lots of amenities, this is your camping spot.  You will be walking distance from the lake, showers, and flush…

Nice Campground When In Service

Unfortunately, the campground is closed and the area is only open to day use.  Although, I believe the day use area is now closed for the winter.  

The forest received serious impact from Hurricanes Laura and Delta in the fall of 2020.  The campground has been closed since.  I spoke to forest…

From Alexandria, drive west on Louisiana Highway 28 for 12 miles to Louisiana Highway 121 at Gardner. Turn left (south) and go 0.25 mile to Forest Road 279 (Valentine Road). Turn left (east) on Hwy 279 and go 3.5 miles to Forest Road 205, where you will turn left (north) and proceed to the recreation area entrance and fee station.
