Near Red River Gorge and Natural bridge
Set back almost a mile from the main road on its own private drive, Lago Linda Hideaway provides security and privacy for its campers in a gorgeous setting. The 35 Piney Woods and Lazy Oaks campsites (which can be reserved in advance) lie on ridge tops among groves of oak trees, allowing campers to spread out and enjoy as much privacy as they wish. All of these campsites are graveled and have electrical hookups.
Each site has its own city water, picnic table, and fire ring. In addition, a large, grassy meadow provides ample overflow camping for tent and car campers, including a big, covered, cooking pavilion with electricity along with another covered area that provides additional shelter for a number of tents.
Lago Linda Hideaway has a bathhouse with hot showers and flush toilets, as well as Broadband Internet access. Well-behaved children and dogs are welcome to this accommodating environment.

We DO NOT have internet or cell service, though we do have a phone for emergency use (trust us, your "people" aren't out here). Instead, we do encourage other forms of entertainment: instruments, hiking shoes, fishing poles, bubbles, hula hoops, etc.
We also DO NOT have trash service. We will have recycling bins set up for plastic, cans, paper, and compost for your food waste, but plan to take your trash with you when you leave. Lake Shelby offers 20 acres of water stocked with bluegill, crappie, bass, catfish, and more! A 10 site RV campground is available for guest as well as 15 tent sites and primitive sites along the lake front. With 8,000 surface acres of water, the lake is an ideal place for boating. With ten boat ramps located around the shoreline, guests have plenty of room for fishing, jet skiing, wake boarding and more. Three full-service marinas are also located around the lake. Fishing is a popular activity at Green River Lake. Walleye, crappie, white bass, channel catfish, muskie and bluegill are all found in abundance. Hunters enjoy the surrounding land, with various habitats supporting deer, turkey, rabbit, quail, squirrel, dove and waterfowl. There are also miles of trails that wind around the lake and along the shore, affording some of the most scenic views in the region.

The Corps of Engineers Visitor Center and the Historical Civil War Atkinson-Griffin Log Cabin are located only a short 13.5 miles from Smith Ridge near the Green River Lake Dam . Several historical attractions and National Parks are located within an hour of Green River Lake, including the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln and Mammoth Cave National Park.

Lake Cumberland is the largest man-made lake east of the Mississippi River. Its large surface acreage and over 1,200 miles of shoreline provide a myriad of recreational activities. The lake has an abundance of largemouth, smallmouth, white and Kentucky bass, bluegill, crappie, rockfish and walleye, making it a favorite among anglers. The Black Walnut Nature Trail, located near the lake office, is a self-guided educational trail. The trail is open Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4pm EST.
The campground overlooks the main body of the lake, offering sweeping scenic views. Dense stands of mature hardwoods forest the site, offering scenic views, pleasant shade and wildlife habitat. Because of the temperate climate and relatively long recreation season, the lake provides varied outdoor recreational opportunities for millions of visitors each year.
General Burnside Island State Park is nearby. It was named after Civil War General Ambrose Burnside, who led patrols along the Cumberland River, circling this 400-acre island to keep watch for Confederate soldiers. Visitors come today to enjoy boating, fishing, golfing and picnicking on Kentucky's only island state park. Burnside Marina is 10 minutes away, with boat rentals, a restaurant and general store.

Nestled in a narrow valley between high ridges of The Knobs, this campground gives the feel of secluded country living with your own trails and creeks to explore. The coffee is locally roasted, fair trade, and most importantly, served fresh, early and rich. All are welcomed here, including the primitive camper, the glamper, and the yurt goer along with the farm chickens and neighbor dogs. My personal favorite sleeping spot is in the tipi, which is large enough for a small crowd but private enough for a single sleeper. Facilities at the site are plentiful and clean. Art and crafts festivals as well as music festivals occur frequently here so check the calendar and plan to stay for a while!

We decided to go down for a weekend to see how we'd like it. It's situated high up on the Kentucky river bank which is nice but there's little access to the riverbank except from the floating dock and boat ramp. When we arrived there was left overs from the previous flood which made it very muddy. It's definitely dog friendly but with no trails to really walk them on. We found a game trail that took us down to the riverbank at the end of the campground and found a goat hanging in a tree from the previous flooding. Perfect campground for partiers who don't respect quiet hours and those who stay at their camper the whole time.

This is great for a night or two, we have used it as a base camp for property search. For this ise it has been great. The sites are a good size with picnic tables at each site. The only problem right now is construction going on behind it, they are clearing out land to build something and they started work today at 5 in the morning. Also you do get road noise as it is at the intersection of two main Kentucky roads.
GuideThis is a small well maintained campground right on the Kentucky river. It is down in a hollow which makes it secluded and quiet. There is a dock and a boat ramp. The customer service is exceptional. Under new management since November, they are making some very nice upgrades. 30/50 amp full hook ups with a number of pull throughs. The sites next to the river are level and easy to back into. There is a pavilion and a pool. It is about 30 minutes from Lexington and about 8 miles to the closest town. The one lane road coming in might give you the willies but it is worth it. They have 5 WiFi connections making this some of the best campground WiFi I have ever had. This is a lovely spot with nice amenities.

We had a great time. This was one of the quietest campgrounds we have ever been to. I would say 85% of the sites are full timers. I site we received was awesome and spacious, but we had some friends that were pleased with there’s and left early. The pool was huge and very clean. We seen the staff checking it every hour. It is open to the public which we didn’t care for. The playground was very old. The women’s bathhouse has been remodeled and was very nice. It was right on the KY River. We wouldn’t call it our favorite campground but would probably go back if we got the same sites again.

TravelerWe enjoyed our stay at Camp Nelson RV Park. It's a smaller(ish) park with quite a few permanent sites. A lot of the permanent sites are older campers in need of some TLC.
The campground has a very nice pool and is very quiet. A bit tight for larger rigs (ours is a 40' DP). The owner is very friendly and has several younger folks working there that are very friendly and accommodating.
There was a slight mix-up with our site when we arrived, but the young lady that was guiding us returned to the office and found us a very nice alternative site for the duration of our stay. They have a small campground store at the office that is well supplied with the necessities. Off the beaten path, quiet, and friendly....what more could you ask for???
TravelerMy husband and I stayed there for 8 months through the fall and winter of 2018 into the spring of 2019. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They have really worked hard to bring this campground back to a place you would like to stay. There are several who are residents there and are very nice as well. They do have camper storage at the top of the property which does have some older, broken-down looking units but also some very nice ones too. Full hook-ups for $395/mo if you are staying monthly. The only down-side to the stay was the husband of the couple that own it. He isn't very friendly at all. Our first night there, the electric went out at our pole and he kept trying to blame it on our RV when it turned out it was the main breaker for our line of electric poles and was his issue. He never apologized and was not nice at all. Any time he is there(which is very rarely) he is just an unhappy person. His wife is wonderful as are all the regular staff. I wouldn't let him keep you from staying there as he is not there normally but just know that his demeanor isn't the best. We have 4 dogs and they were very welcomed by everyone. The pool is nice although they do sell memberships to it for outside folks to use which means there can be a lot of people there on a holiday or very warm day. All in all, it was a pleasant experience and we would definitely stay there again if need be.

ScoutIf you love water and nature this is the place for you! Beautiful river front campground that is peaceful. There is a boat ramp (perfect for my kayak), docks to go fishing off of, lots of nature and trails. I just brought my RV here for an extended stay and the staff made every effort to make sure my stay would be enjoyable! They even came out and helped me hook everything up (I’m a newbie to RV camping). They have new owners and the staff is very welcoming and treat you like family and friends. I highly recommend this place and so thankful I found this little gem!

The river and waterfall makes it feel like a tranquil place. The walking trail by the river is nice, we walked it almost every day.

RangerReally can’t say enough good things about Cummins Ferry. Beautiful park with loads of amenities: full hook ups, camp store, pool disc golf, fishing, hiking, fire pits at sites, river views and event organized by resort. Staff is wonderful and very helpful. Sites are a bit bigger than what you find at most rv parks. However the WiFi is pretty crappy. I’m sure this place is packed full in the summertime so booking early then would be a smart idea.
GuideWe had such an amazing time at HomeGrown HideAways!! We stayed at the Yome, and it was perfect for our family of four. Instead of sleeping in it, which would have been perfectly comfortable, we actually used it as more of an extra shelter and we pitched out tents in the field in front of the Yome.
The outhouse was perfectly clean, but there were flush toilets available if you took a little walk.
This place is amazing lots of room to take walks and even a good, challenging mile or so hike. There are ducks and chickens around, and the eggs are always available. There's also a few super friendly dogs to visit. The owners are wonderful people, and we really enjoyed our time there.

I’m on a month camping trek. This is the third place I’ve stopped in the past week. Beautiful area, tent camping and pull thru available. Camp hosts were knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. Store had everything I needed.
The place is beautiful with river view and valley overlooking sunsets every night. Options of wooded or open concept sites. Picnic tables and fireplaces were in good shape. Thunderstorms came though the night by noon everything was dry and perfect.
Everyone in the store when I arrived was welcoming. Answered all my questions. The have fishing licenses available, along with hunting.
Be aware it is a Marina, this said if fishings your deal everything your looking for in the store. If you’re used to being spoiled in state park camp stores, they have wood and ice and food and coffee. Don’t bank on them have that last minute toothbrush you forgot.
This being said the shower house was immaculate. Been camping since I was six months old. Don’t remember all the shower houses but I’ve never seen one this clean and well maintained.
For sure will be visiting again!
