Best RV Parks & Resorts near Bryantsville, KY

Several RV parks near Bryantsville, Kentucky provide riverside accommodations with various amenity levels. Camp Nelson RV Park in Lancaster offers full hookups with 30/50-amp service, though some sites have limited space for larger units. Cummins Ferry RV Park features riverfront sites approximately 50 feet above the Kentucky River with full hookup capability and pull-through options that accommodate big rigs. Chimney Rock Campground maintains seasonal operations from April through October with electric, sewer and water connections, though the campground consists primarily of permanent sites. Still Waters Campground

    Wonderfully beautiful, peaceful, and friendly

This campground is located at the mouth of the Elkhorn Creek and Kentucky River. It is extremely popular among locals who want to sit in an tube float and float down the creek to the Kentucky River, a trip that takes approximately 3 to 4 hours. Note you have to bring your own tube. Nearly all of the campsites are spacious and have grass. You can park next to your campsite. The campground is very clean, full of trees and shade, and the lawn is well manicured. On weekends you can find campers playing corn hole and karaoke. Food trucks occasionally set up on weekends. Due to the location, only Verizon and Visible cell phone users have service. There is no local Internet. There are two dump stations for RVs. There is also a hiking trail to the top of a nearby mountain. The view of the Kentucky river is magical. The office is open Wednesday thru Sunday. Use of ground mats are frowned upon as they kill the grass at the campsite but are tolerated for long term campers. They have assorted types of camping sites, including: primitive, water and electric, and full hookup. They also offer daily, weekly, weekend, seasonal, and monthly rates. The public restrooms have no heat and are closed when the weather gets cold.

Cummins Ferry RV Park, Campground on the Kentucky River

Great park next to the river

This is a small well maintained campground right on the Kentucky river. It is down in a hollow which makes it secluded and quiet. There is a dock and a boat ramp. The customer service is exceptional. Under new management since November, they are making some very nice upgrades. 30/50 amp full hook ups with a number of pull throughs. The sites next to the river are level and easy to back into. There is a pavilion and a pool. It is about 30 minutes from Lexington and about 8 miles to the closest town. The one lane road coming in might give you the willies but it is worth it. They have 5 WiFi connections making this some of the best campground WiFi I have ever had. This is a lovely spot with nice amenities.

    Cummings ferry campground

Small park restrooms and showers. Very clean. Nice pool. Camp store offers basics. Fairly close to shopping groceries etc. staff was friendly 30/50 amp service didn’t count the number of river view sites. But quite a few. Some sites have 20 X 12 elevated decks. Full hook ups. Pet friendly. Was very quiet the week we stayed. Didn’t feel like bringing the camper home so payed for another week and drive back the following week. Cell service. Isn’t the best WiFi was available if I remember. Correctly rates were reasonable

    Still Waters Campground

Great for long term or seasonal

Lots of run down RV’s and shanty town in the back of the park. More long term renters than weekend warriors. One dump station, no sewage on the sites. One bathroom, for the whole Park. lots of tents sites (that were busy) makes for poor bathrooms. Not to mention its outhouse style with no climate control. 1/3 men’s bathrooms were out of order and 1/3 urinals were too. 2/3 showers where out of order and the two useable toilets, the door locks were broken. No wifi. Fires are allowed. Fire pits are run down so be mindful. 2/5 bars for ATT services. Sites aren’t labeled or labeled extremely bad. Electrical seems very out dated. Make sure you have protection. Over priced at $60 + tax for the night. Scattered shade. Pull through sites mainly. Picnic tables have seen better days (years more like it). Good space between sites and access to the river for water sports. Little lake for fishing. No pet area and strict leash laws. I wanna give this a 2/5 because they were pleasant. They encouraged me to review on multiple sites but I think that would be bad for them so I’ll stick to my main review site. 1/5, if the price was better like 30-40/night maybe 2/5 but for the price of a motel 6 and only electrical and that is sketchy. Save your money book elsewhere or avoid.

    Pioneer Playhouse Campground

This is all about the theater...not the camping

This place has some fascinating history and a unique outdoor summer stock theater experience. The oldest outdoor theater in Kentucky with 5 productions running through the summer months. Definitely a good time and casual dining evening with stories of many famous faces that have graced the stage: John Travolta, Lee Majors, Jim Varney...to name a few. The campground has 35 sites with little elbow room; all have electric(30 amp) and water, gravel/grass pads, shower facilities and bathrooms, and they do have a"rustic" dump station. Many of the sites seem to have long term tenants...so this is best for a one night stop and a show. The town of Danville has what you need for supplies and dining, loads of historical sites in the area and of course there is a Bourbon Distillery that must make the list of activities. pioneerplayhouse.com/visit-us/campground/

The Perfect Getaway: The Farm RV Resort Review

If you’re looking for an idyllic spot to park your RV and unwind, The Farm RV Resort is an absolute gem. Nestled in a serene countryside setting, this resort offers the perfect blend of nature and comfort. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed by the friendly and helpful staff who made check-in a breeze. The resort itself is beautifully maintained, with spacious, level sites that provide plenty of room for both our RV and outdoor activities. We particularly loved the well-kept grass areas and the full hook-ups, making it super convenient for extended stays. The resort has a rustic charm that makes you feel like you’re getting away from it all, yet it still provides modern amenities. One of the highlights of our stay was the peaceful atmosphere. The surrounding farm landscape, with its rolling fields and calm breeze, is perfect for those who enjoy the quiet outdoors. We spent our evenings watching sunsets, enjoying the fresh air, and even taking walks around the grounds. For those looking for activities, the resort offers a variety of fun options. There’s a cozy clubhouse with games and a small store for essentials, plus a community fire pit where guests can gather and share stories under the stars. We also enjoyed the nearby trails, perfect for hiking or biking. LockRidge Park

    A Diamond in the Rough

This is a true gem and one not to be missed. Unfortunately, our stay was limited to one night, however, we will definitely be returning to take advantage of the many amenities included. Full hookups, laundry, bath house, general store, tastefully designed accommodations, activities, and even an outdoor theatre; everything you need for an enjoyable long-term stay. The Site was quite large and accommodated our 24 ft rig and truck, and FH, which were very clean and well placed. Our site also provided partial shade, which in the warmer months would be very beneficial. Not to mention, the beautiful views with a lovely trail and lookout over Dix River that runs behind the property. Management/Owners were incredibly hospitable and friendly. We loved our overnight stay at Lockridge, it was quiet, peaceful, and absolutely beautiful. We camped at LockRidge Park in a Travel Trailer.

*TIP ~ Dix River runs behind the property, nearby there is a marina, waterfalls, trout fishing, and many other recreational activities. This venue also hosts events and has Harvest Host accommodations.

    Lake Shelby Campground

    Small and quiet

Came here in our 40’ class A. Very weird at first as the sites are 20 feet long, but they allow front ends to stick out. Very nice park on a lake. All new electrical and water, all sites have 50 amp despite the website stating only 30 amps as recent update. Nice showers, regular campground showers. Good wifi, cable and cell service. Good for a night or two.

Guide to Bryantsville

RV parks near Bryantsville, Kentucky offer diverse camping experiences along the Kentucky River's limestone valleys. Campsites range from basic primitive options to full-service RV resorts with waterfront views. Seasonal operation schedules vary, with most parks reaching full capacity during summer weekends when temperatures average 85-90°F.

What to do

Kayaking and fishing access: Cummins Ferry RV Park provides boat ramp access to the Kentucky River. "If you love water and nature this is the place for you! Beautiful river front campground that is peaceful. There is a boat ramp (perfect for my kayak), docks to go fishing off of, lots of nature and trails," notes Jenn N.

Hiking trails: Wilson Creek Recreation Area offers walking paths through wooded terrain near Green River Lake. "The old 4 wheeler trails now make good hiking trails and cool off at the gravel beach at the end of the road," reports Kenny P. The trails are beginner-friendly and suitable for all ages.

Saturday entertainment: Several campgrounds host weekend events during peak season. At Elkhorn Creek RV Park, "there was even live music! And can I take a moment to say the restroom/shower was the cleanest I have EVER used," writes Josh S. Cummins Ferry features "Live music and food trucks every Saturday are a nice touch!" according to Whistle P.

What campers like

Waterfront sites: Many campers appreciate riverside camping options. At Holmes Bend, "Most sites are spaced apart but close enough to make new friend like we did. Any site is well kept along with all the grounds... Walking around you will find wildlife. Lots of deer and turtles and birds," explains Thomas R.

Gated security: Several rv parks near Bryantsville, Kentucky offer enhanced security features. Matthew M. notes that Cummins Ferry is "Gated, pool, play ground, showers, store, private boat ramp w/ marina. Plenty of pull through spots, large and small back in spots."

Spacious campsites: Smith Ridge Green River Lake provides roomier sites than many area campgrounds. "I am currently here and I gotta say I am impressed. The bathrooms are clean, I am not close to my neighboring campers, the parking spots are huge, and it's a great area to walk around," says Maze M.

What you should know

Power supply issues: Some campgrounds experience electrical problems during peak usage. At Smith Ridge, "They have a known power issue, 30amp service went out several times at the pole. Their solution was to use less appliances," reports Lindsey M.

Cell service limitations: Many campgrounds have spotty connectivity. "Practically no cell service with Verizon or AT&T," notes Todd C. about Smith Ridge Green River Lake. However, at Pikes Ridge - Green River Lake, the location offers better connectivity than some riverside locations.

Shower facility maintenance: Bathroom conditions vary widely between campgrounds. Christina S. warns about Smith Ridge: "One bathroom hasn't had electric in two years and another women's bathroom only has hot water in one shower and the hand dryers don't work."

Seasonal closures: Some campgrounds operate limited schedules. Wilson Creek Recreation Area was "closed permanently by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Green River Lake. It is now under the control of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources," reports Lori B.

Tips for camping with families

Playground options: Multiple campgrounds feature play areas for children. Holmes Bend offers "playground for the grandkids, near Green River lake, must have Ky temporary license to fish, boating, cabins rental, natural trails," according to Ron B.

Swimming areas: Several campgrounds maintain dedicated swimming facilities. Cummins Ferry campers mention that "We had kids that fished and played in the playground and sat by the fire every night! We will absolutely return!" shares Maison H.

Beach access: Waterfront options include sandy areas for children. At Wilson Creek, "You're also only a short walk from the beach which is nice. The area is also patrolled at random hours throughout the night to make you feel a little safer," Jessica C. notes.

Tips from RVers

Leveling challenges: Many RV parks Bryantsville, Kentucky require significant leveling equipment. At Cummins Ferry, Whistle P. explains, "The sites here are not level. We used our normal 2x green blocks for the Jack, but needed all 10 of our leveling blocks, plus 8 paving stones to get the appropriate height."

Site selection for larger rigs: Not all campgrounds accommodate bigger motorhomes. Randy G. shares about Camp Nelson RV Park: "A bit tight for larger rigs (ours is a 40' DP). The owner is very friendly and has several younger folks working there that are very friendly and accommodating."

WiFi reliability: Internet access varies significantly between campgrounds. One camper notes that Cummins Ferry has "5 WiFi connections making this some of the best campground WiFi I have ever had. This is a lovely spot with nice amenities," according to Stacey.
