Conveniently located at the intersection of US 50/400 and US 50/56, just a short drive to all the old west attractions, local casino, race track, event center, water park and more.

We stayed here in June for two nights on a road trip north. Front section of spots 1-43 are close to the road and it is very noisy. They made these front sites big rig friendly by using the site next to yours for unhooking your tow or towed vehicle. We were put in the front section due to a large work crew taking up a lot of spaces in the back section. We could not open our awning in the first assigned spot, so the staff was accommodating and moved us over one spot. Come to find out, it is very windy here, so awnings are not used very often. We would highly recommend getting a site in the back. Sites 50-80. Less noise, long pull throughs and nice wide grass areas. The wifi was not very strong or was too busy, so we used our own hot spot. This is conveniently located close to Dodge City attractions.

Great camp ground with clean and maintained amenities. Having a lake this close is a treat even if it’s not a big lake. I don’t fish but see and hear fish jumping all the time. It’s new so the trees haven’t grown to provide a ton of shade yet but great value for the price and location.

We just stayed there over night and did the late check in but it worked great for us. Just needed water and electricity but they have all the options.
GuideAll hookups function properly, gravel sites fairly level and easy to access. Laundry and showers available, have not used them yet. Bad time of year for exploring the area. Still very arid and dry this spring. No complaints about the park.

ScoutCampground was a little difficult to find the entrance to, but once we found it we had no problems with the rest of our stay. Campground was quite and fully paved. The kids enjoyed riding their bikes and scooters while we relaxed at our spot. Plenty of room to pull in and out of spots. The common buildings were all new and very well kept. Highly recommend if you are in Dodge City.

GuideKeep in mind, we haven’t found any five-star campgrounds in Kansas, and a shortage of campgrounds in general, so we were glad to find this perfectly adequate, safe space with level gravel pads close together. Full hookups. The best thing about it is its proximity to Dodge City.

ScoutThe place itself is just ok. It’s just a parking lot of RVs. No trees, no pool, nothing on site. It is close to a nice park and a water park if you want to add more to your bill. The showers suck. Although clean, you can not adjust the hot or cold and it turns off every minute. The people were nice but not very informative.

TravelerGrowing up in southwest Kansas it is difficult to take a quick weekend trip anywhere close. Horsethief sure changed that. A quick hour drive from Garden City and you can be on the water or setting up your camper. Spots can fill up quick so be sure you call ahead. However, there are plenty of primitive spots that have room most weekends.

GuideSites 50 through 82 are in the back away from the highway and very quiet. 33 through 44 are back in sites and front the highway and are noisier. 50 to 82 have 20 feet of grassy space between sites, I highly recommend these sites. They also have trees to provide shade. Some sites have multiple sewer dumps so your positioning of your rig is less of a problem. They accept the Dyrt Pro card for a 10% discount. All level sites. 😊

Scoutclean restrooms, showers, spotless laundry room. owners willing to help you with anything. very well run. a group of us stay in Oct. and April every year. we usually take 10 spots in front in Oct and 12 spots in rear of park on our way back through. only park around with a 8' deep pool and very wide spots. room for our 42' c/a and f150.
