Dodge City KOA

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

KOA's Dodge City location sits close to downtown, within walking distance of Boot Hill Museum and a cluster of family-oriented attractions that make it a functional base for touring this corner of western Kansas. The campground runs fully paved, with large concrete pads and enough maneuvering room for rigs up to 115 feet. Full hookups are available, including electric, water, and sewer, along with WiFi, showers, and a dump station.

The layout reads more like a paved lot than a wooded retreat. No trees shade the sites, and there is no pool on the property. What the campground does have is cleanliness and consistency. Multiple reviewers flag the facilities as well maintained, and Daryl L. calls it a "very nicely nice park, restrooms and showers very clean." One caveat worth knowing: the shower controls do not allow temperature adjustment and shut off automatically every minute, which some campers find frustrating.

Proximity to attractions is a genuine asset here. A water park sits next door, and a city park with a free zoo is within walking range. Boot Hill Museum is directly across the street. Site 27 and several nearby spots back up to a grassy open area that works well for kids. Campers also mention good cell coverage and functional WiFi for an overnight or short stay.

Railroad noise is a real factor. One reviewer notes the tracks are close enough that passing trains are audible throughout the night, so light sleepers should plan accordingly. The entrance can also be tricky to locate on first arrival, though once inside, navigation is straightforward. Late check-in is supported: staff leave site maps and instructions when the office is closed, as Charlene P. found during a recent stay.

Campers who want a different setup can look at Watersports Campground to the southeast, or browse camping destinations around Dodge City for additional options in the region.

Nice campground near waterpark

Easy set up reservation was ready for us, even though the office was closed. They left instructions and map to park in our spot. Great location near downtown.

Overnight stay

We just stayed there over night and did the late check in but it worked great for us. Just needed water and electricity but they have all the options.

Clean, Quiet and New Campground

Campground was a little difficult to find the entrance to, but once we found it we had no problems with the rest of our stay.  Campground was quite and fully paved.  The kids enjoyed riding their bikes and scooters while we relaxed at our spot.  Plenty of room to pull in and out of spots.  The common buildings were all new and very well kept.  Highly recommend if you are in Dodge City.

Ok

The place itself is just ok. It’s just a parking lot of RVs. No trees, no pool, nothing on site. It is close to a nice park and a water park if you want to add more to your bill. The showers suck. Although clean, you can not adjust the hot or cold and it turns off every minute. The people were nice but not very informative.

Large sites with lots to do

Large concrete pads! Behind our site and a bunch others is a large grassy area perfect for kids to play. Within walking distance is a super affordable water park, free zoo, playground, and Boot Hill Museum.
