Managed by the Shelby County Conservation Board, Nishna Bend Rec Area sits along the Nishnabotna River in open terrain outside Harlan. The site is small and drive-in accessible, with electric hookups, drinking water, showers, and flush toilets available. Nightly rates range from $0 to $20. One thing to note before booking: the park's own website prohibits pets, so leave the dog at home. Prairie Rose State Park Campground lies a few miles east for those who need more options in the area.
Description
A campground opened in 2007 with four electrical sites. Since then 20 more sites have been added.. The cost for the sites is $20 per night. A new shower house/restroom was opened in May of 2009. The main office of the Conservation Board and Roadside Management Department are also located here. The Board is developing this area for its water resources and wildlife value, and is the focus of the counties nature learning program.
