This was the perfect place for us — just passing through on our way out to Wyoming. This camp ground is awesome all around — especially for tent campers. Absolutely beautiful views of the lake and so many open camp sites even on the 4th of July. I wish we could have spent more time here.

Perfect getaway

Perfect place to get away for the weekend. Grounds are clean bathrooms are clean. Shout out to Dave the park ranger for being very generous. We drove from Davenport to stay here for Father’s Day weekend and we will definitely be back. You also can tent camp right next to the water as well. Love it!

The staff are amazing

We rolled into the campground looking for a clean place to spend the night. Since it was pre-memorial day, we had our pick of prime spots. Once we found our site, we went for firewood and to pay. The staff were so nice when we got there. They took care of everything and we were on our way to a peaceful night.

Great Place to Spend a Night or Two

As of 2021 the fee per night was $20.00. Almost all sites have electricity. Additionally there are running water restrooms and showers (both very clean). There is no fee for the showers. There are two small camping areas near the entrance and two larger areas on the far side of the lake.

We stayed in Site 20 on the far side. It was level and on the river (there are a few sites on the lake).

Canoes and paddle boats are available for rent (prices are out of the 1960’s…less than $5.00 per hour). A large playground for children looked new and in great shape. There are also picnic areas with some gazebos.

The park and campground were immaculate and well maintained. If you’re traveling down I 80 in West Iowa and want a beautiful, inexpensive county park to stay at, there isn’t a better choice.

Wonderful campground

This place was great. Nice setting close to I80 without highway noise. It is first come so is probably busy in summer. Bathhouse was so clean and nice. Stop by office first to see if there are sights available. First 2 campgrounds before office and one with pull through site. we were near the bathhouse which was modern otherwise outdoor ones. We biked into town - so much fun. We were there after Labor Day in a Thursday night so many sights available. Cost was only $20 a night.
