Whitewater Memorial State Park Campground welcomes pets at all campsites with full hookup options for RVs and tent sites for traditional camping. The park features a short hike to the lake with a pet-friendly beach area where dogs can cool off during summer months. Campers note the campground facilities are newly updated with two large shower houses and clean bathrooms. Mounds State Recreation Area at Brookville Lake also accommodates pets with about a dozen full-hookup sites featuring 50-amp power, water, and sewer connections suitable for larger RVs. Natural Springs Resort permits dogs at their RV sites, tent areas, and cabins, making it versatile for different camping styles. Most campgrounds in the Liberty area require pets to remain leashed at all times when outside vehicles or camping units, with typical leash length restrictions of 6 feet.

Hiking trails throughout Whitewater Memorial State Park provide excellent exercise opportunities for dogs, with horse trails also accessible to leashed pets. The nearby town of Liberty offers essential services including veterinary care and pet supplies at local stores. Hueston Woods State Park, located approximately 20 minutes from Liberty, features a dedicated dog park where pets can run off-leash, a significant upgrade from the former deer exhibit according to regular visitors. Campers should be prepared for wildlife encounters by keeping pets secured, especially during dawn and dusk hours when local wildlife is most active. During summer months, the combination of humidity and heat requires extra water provisions for pets, with shaded campsites being particularly valuable for dog comfort during midday hours.

Mounds State Recreation Area Campground — Brookville Lake

This is a nice little campground. There is a lot of space between campers, and the spots are asphalt and somewhat level. It didn’t feel crowded at all. There are plenty of good hiking trails around and it’s fun to go look at the dam. Highly recommend going to the overlook at sunset!

      Lebanon-Cincinnati NE KOA

      Friendly and quiet

There are a lot of people here, but even during the day we hardly hear any loud noises coming from any of the other campers. Walking the property (as much as I can with my cane) everyone is so friendly. The grounds are kept very clean. The people from the office actually do garbage pick-up anytime during office hours! Just place your trash bag/ other items to be thrown away at the front of your site and they take it away. They even have recycling, but you have to take that up yourself. They won't just tell you where it is, they will show you. I haven't been to a KOA site in 15 years and the one I went to was not a great experience, but I highly recommend staying here if you're passing through Cincinnati.

      Loop C, Versailles State Park

      Large But Relatively Private

Description of this site is that it's moderate sloping (from front down to back. Definitely true. Pretty muddy site, due to large amounts of rain, but most sites are level and less shaded.

      Beyonder Getaway Rising Sun

      Nice campground - but busy

Now called Unhitched RV Park. I’m quite liberal with my rating so 4 star may be generous. There are quite a few weekender / extended stay sites but they all look clean without too many extensive built-ins. People were all very friendly, desk attendant was excellent with great information and very accommodating. Site workers are busy keeping the place tidy and are nice people. We stayed at the upper sites with plenty of of mature trees for shade. Near the river is very wide open. Had a pull through site with plenty of room for everything. Hook ups are all properly located for standard equipment. Some sites need leveling but ours only used one block under left side. Pool is very nice and we waited for a quiet time to go. New management has taken over recently, so name is now Unhitched RV Park. Showers, laundry, small camp store. Couldn’t get Wi-Fi to work day 1. It can get very busy with golf carts and 4 wheelers. Generally we had a nice site with reasonable privacy. Also the area has a lot to offer with the local small towns.

Hamilton County Miami Whitewater Forest Campground

      Clean, quiet woods and raccoons

20 & 30 amp service only. Very nice place to kick back and unwind. Dump station is on a hill so it’s tough to get the job done completely.

    Tips from RVers

Site selection: At Hueston Woods State Park Campground, site choices matter. "We love Hueston Woods! We have been there twice now and tent camp. A lot of the sites are large and have enough space for everything you need!" reports Maddy B. RVers should check specific site dimensions before booking.

Utility connections: Mounds State Recreation Area offers various hookup options. "Very large park with a lot of amenities. Some spots are slanted quite a bit and are not good for 5th wheels," cautions John R. Level sites with full hookups remain limited and require advance reservations.

Road access: Some campgrounds have narrow access roads with tight turns. Larger rigs need careful navigation, particularly at older campgrounds with mature trees close to roadways.

Seasonal availability: Not all campgrounds maintain water hookups during colder months. Winter camping requires self-contained systems for water supply when temperatures drop below freezing.
