Just a 7 minute or so jaunt once you get off either I90 or I39, you’ll be able to rock up to this orange-themed big box home makeover retailer’s parking lot. While not the largest HD parking lot I’ve come across, this one should still definitely suit your RV or 5th Wheel needs. Obviously, the huge upside here is that this spot places you pretty much smack dab in the middle of everything from a retail and shopping standpoint, all without forcing you to drive too far 'off the reservation.’
As far as the parking lot is concerned, you’ll discover that it’s in relatively good condition and on the medium size, with at least 2/3’s of the lot wide open and prepared to welcome you to its asphalt foundation. The best area to ‘hole up for the night’ is either on the northernmost or easternmost peripheries where traffic will be less and 'quietude' will be at an all time high. Unlike some of the other home stores you might come across, this one doesn’t feature parking lots with tons of things (e.g. small rental machinery, plants, mulch, salt, sheds) for sale in the actual lot allowing for a fairly unobstructed and EZ maneuverable location to manage.
Insider’s Tips? Here’s a few: (1) Nearby there’s a handful of places to get your food on: Red Robin Burgers & Brew, Ali Baba, Jason’s Deli Panera, Applebee’s, Machine Shed, Golden Corral (yes, apparently that’s still a thing in these parts), Chick-fil-A, Five Guys and Beef-A-Roo (don’t ask, it’s a local thing), although if you want something actually memorable, I would suggest Stone Eagle Tavern as well as Smokey Bones, which serves up some simply 'D-lish' wings; (2) If you are looking to grab a slice of nature nearby, head just northwest to Rock Cut SP where you can launch a canoe or kayak into Pierce Lake and additionally, there’s also a ton of trails to hike here in this prairie preserve slice of pristine nature; (3) Should you want to load up on groceries, supplies and whatever else you might need for your sojourn and don’t think they’ll have it at this Home Depot, then you’ll be in luck here, as less than a mile from here you’ll be able to access Walmart, Lowe’s, Costco, Sam’s Club, Gordon Food as well as Best Buy (just in case you wanted to have the newest Bose speakers installed in your RV); and (4) In the event that you are considering other options for parking your RV overnight and actually want a decent spot, then rather than this pit stop bummer, I would recommend looking at: Thousand Trails Pine Country, Holiday Acres Camping Resort or Northwoods RV Resort or Rock Cut SP, where they have 4 (count‘em 4!) different campgrounds that you can land your RV.
