Busy but relatively quiet

Spots are mostly wide open to the road but separated enough to feel private (until drivers/walkers come through). Site had gravel and roots so tent spot took some searching and clearing to find. While pretty busy it still felt private and quiet aside from nearby sites playing music most of the day…

Turner South - NON Electric Campground

Very quiet spot with no electric short walk to Turner Lake.   Spaces are well spaced, some with good shade and others in full sun.   It shares a nice bath house with two other campgrounds on the property, Fox Den and Prairie View.  Two bath room buildings in the campground as well.  Many trails and…

Best Campground in Chain O'Lakes State Park

Chain O'Lakes State Park in IL has two electric campgrounds, 2 non-electric campgrounds and one group site.  Fox Den is superior to Honeysuckle Hollows because each site has an individual electric post.  Sites in Honeysuckle have electric posts to far from parking pad.  Fox Den also has more space…

Not a bad park - but do your research

These sites share an electric box.  Some spaces the box is further than 30 feet from the pad.  A lot of the spaces are also crowded together.  Recommend sites 23 to 46 for spacing and electric distance.  We originally booked 96 but could not extend our slide because of large trees on either side of…

Very nice campground

Rock Cut St. Park is in the middle of an urban area, but you would not know it. The park is very large(the largest in northern Illinois) and has multiple campgrounds. I stayed in the Prairie View campground. Trees all around, plenty of shade. There is a central bathhouse with flush toilets and 3…

Quiet, low-key camping. Frequent camp host checks

White Tail camping is quiet, low-key, family friendly and good for a break from urban life.

Site 80 is fairly open & shade is hard to come by.

Had a good time. Next visit will be in a shady spot.

We will return.

Camp hosts and local police come by to keep an eye on things.

Nice and quiet

Its nice and quiet. When you park at the lot head towards Utica. The first spot was about a half mile in. If you head further down there is a nice spot with a shelter and fire place. They are working on the bridge before Utica so you can not walk into town. No restrooms but there is a water…

Pine Country campground

It's a nice park, nice good size pool, no jacuzzi, small play ground with a jumping pad. Pond for catch and release fishing. Only bad thing which isn't that bad, the roads in park are large gravel rock and the dust is awful. The people that work in the office are very nice, helpful. We will stay…

Clean, but no amenities

We just purchased our first Winnebago and needed a spot close to home for a quick trial run. We have three small boys and they were very excited to camp. This is a great place if you need to stay for a night or two. It has full hookups, a dump station, showers, and propane. There is not a lot…

Not for #vanlife

Full hook ups and electric sites plus some restricted Equestrian and walk in sites
Not for #vanlife. I tried to pay for a tent site and was told “you’re not supposed to sleep in your car” “this campground is for RV’s only”

Perfect for cyclists along the canal trail

This campground is right in town. It is a bit away from businesses. However if you arrive by car you drive through the quaint town.

Arriving by bicycle is even better. The Illinois and Michigan Canal Trail passes right by camp. You can stop for a rest or stay the night. It's a nice stopping…

Wonderful area.

This was a great little campground, very laid back, we came memorial day weekend. It was quiet, relaxing, and very well maintained. 1 trash area, 4 porta Potties for use for the campground. You can rent kayaks for the day, fish, wade in the river (no swimming). You get to see tugboats and barges…

Quiet spacious camp ground

We are here on Memorial Day weekend and it is full, but still very quiet. The sites are well maintained including the fire pit areas. Water hookup is back from pad so as others have said, bring the longer water hose. Nearby Siegler Lake and Big Rock Creek in the Big Rock Forest Preserve are…

A great place to avoid the crowds!

This little gem is across the river from Starved Rock State Park. So, you can appreciate the bluff overlooks of the river without dealing with the crowds. Real live Buffalo are a treat for kids and animal lovers. A number of trails around effigy mounds make for a nice walk.
